En 1984, Caterpillar, Eder et Zeppelin Baumaschinen, le concessionnaire Cat® en Allemagne, ont lancé une nouvelle gamme de pelles sur pneus, proposant quatre modèles sous la marque Cat Eder. Huit ans plus tard, la gamme est devenue un produit 100 % Cat avec une équipe dédiée aux pelles sur pneus. Vingt-huit ans plus tard, en 2012, Caterpillar célébrait la production de sa 25 000e pelle sur pneus. Cette année, Caterpillar annonce la production de sa 50 000e pelle sur pneus, un modèle Cat M318 Next Gen, ajoutant 25 000 unités supplémentaires au total en seulement 11 ans.
L'Europe et la Corée du Sud ont été parmi les premiers à adopter cette nouvelle solution. Cependant, la combinaison de vitesse, de puissance, de polyvalence et de capacité à utiliser une large gamme d'outils hydrauliques a permis à la gamme de pelles sur pneus Cat de gagner en popularité en Chine, en Asie du Sud-Est, au Moyen-Orient, en Amérique du Nord et sur d'autres marchés mondiaux. Commençant avec seulement quatre modèles, la gamme étendue de pelles sur pneus Cat comprend aujourd'hui sept modèles - Cat M314 à M322 - pour les marchés avec des réglementations d'émissions plus élevées, un modèle - M315 GC - pour la Chine, trois modèles - M315 à M320D2 - pour ceux qui adhèrent à des émissions plus faibles normes, le modèle spécifique au chemin de fer M323F et quatre manutentionnaires du MH3022 au MH3040.

Lors d'une cérémonie qui s'est tenue le 22 juin 2023 à l'usine Caterpillar de Grenoble, en France, des représentants de Caterpillar et de Zeppelin ont présenté le 50 000e Cat M318 commémoratif à des représentants de Wolff & Müller Holding GmbH & Co. KG. Torsten Schuckert, responsable de l'unité de service logistique, et Siegfried Cammerer, responsable de l'unité de service technique des machines et des appareils, étaient présents pour recevoir la machine de l'entrepreneur.

La pelle hydraulique sur pneus Cat M318 phare offre une conception bien équilibrée en termes de taille et de performances. Il est suffisamment compact pour travailler dans des espaces restreints, mais offre des performances élevées pour les projets plus importants, ce qui en fait un outil polyvalent et passe-partout. Les récentes avancées de conception offrent une économie de carburant accrue, un couple de rotation plus élevé, une meilleure visibilité et des économies de pièces d'entretien par rapport à la série de modèles précédente et une suite de technologies telles que Cat Grade, Cat Payload et Cat E-Fence. Les outils de diagnostic à distance - Dépannage à distance et Flash à distance - aident le M318 à offrir des performances élevées et une efficacité maximale avec un minimum de temps d'arrêt.

Caterpillar celebrates production of the 50,000th Cat® Wheel Excavator

In 1984, Caterpillar, Eder and Zeppelin Baumaschinen, the Cat® dealer in Germany, introduced a new wheeled excavator line, offering four models under the Cat Eder brand. Eight years later, the line became a 100% Cat product with a designated wheel excavator team. Twenty-eight years later, in 2012, Caterpillar celebrated production of its 25,000th wheel excavator. This year, Caterpillar announces production of its 50,000th wheel excavator, a Cat M318 Next Gen model, adding another 25,000 units to the total in just 11 years.
Europe and South Korea were among the first adopters of this new solution. However, the combination of speed, power, versatility and ability to operate a wide range of hydraulic tools has the Cat Wheel Excavator line growing in popularity in China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North America and other world markets. Starting with only four models, today’s expanded Cat wheel excavator line includes seven models – Cat M314 to M322 – for markets with higher emissions regulations, one model – M315 GC – for China, three models – M315 to M320D2 –for those adhering to lower emissions standards, the M323F railroad-specific model, and four materials handlers from the MH3022 to MH3040.
Commenting on the significance of Caterpillar’s 50,000th wheel excavator milestone, Brian Abbott, vice president of product management for the Excavation division said, “Offering quick movement on the job site and from site to site without damaging the ground, the wheel excavator proved to be a game changer for contractors working in congested areas and markets with mature infrastructure. During a ceremony held on June 22, 2023, at the Caterpillar facility in Grenoble, France, representatives from Caterpillar and Zeppelin presented the 50,000th commemorative Cat M318 to representatives from Wolff & Müller Holding GmbH & Co. KG. On hand to receive the machine from the contractor were Torsten Schuckert, head of logistics service unit, and Siegfried Cammerer, manager of machine and device technology service unit logistics.

Remote diagnostics tools – Remote Troubleshoot and Remote Flash – help the M318 deliver high performance and maximum efficiency with minimum downtime.

Dit jaar kondigt Caterpillar de productie aan van zijn 50.000ste mobiele graafmachine, een Cat M318 Next Gen-model, waarmee in slechts 11 jaar nog eens 25.000 eenheden aan het totaal worden toegevoegd.
Europa en Zuid-Korea behoorden tot de eerste gebruikers van deze nieuwe oplossing. Het paradepaardje van de Cat M318 graafmachine op wielen biedt een goed uitgebalanceerd ontwerp qua afmetingen en prestaties. Hij is compact genoeg om in krappe ruimtes te werken, maar levert hoge prestaties voor grotere projecten, waardoor hij overal inzetbaar is. Recente ontwerpverbeteringen bieden een lager brandstofverbruik, een hoger zwenkkoppel, beter zicht en besparingen op onderhoudsonderdelen ten opzichte van de vorige modelseries en een reeks technologieën zoals Cat Grade, Cat Payload en Cat E-Fence. Hulpmiddelen voor diagnose op afstand – Remote Troubleshoot en Remote Flash – helpen de M318 hoge prestaties en maximale efficiëntie te leveren met minimale downtime.
