À près de 300 kilomètres de la ville la plus proche, dans les vastes étendues de la région d’Aktobe, au Kazakhstan, une nouvelle mine d’or s’apprête à entrer en production. Pour West Gold Mining Limited, le défi était de taille : garantir une alimentation électrique fiable dès le démarrage, tout en anticipant les besoins futurs. Plutôt que de construire une coûteuse infrastructure de raccordement, l’entreprise a choisi la production d’énergie sur site avec deux groupes électrogènes à gaz Cat G3500K, sélectionnés avec le soutien de Borusan Cat.

Conçue pour fonctionner en réseau autonome, cette installation fournit une alimentation continue et évolutive, capable de s’adapter à l’augmentation des besoins énergétiques au rythme du développement de la mine.

Dans cette région aux conditions climatiques exigeantes, où les températures peuvent descendre jusqu’à –30 °C en hiver et dépasser 30 °C en été, les équipements conteneurisés ont été retenus pour favoriser la fiabilité de fonctionnement tout au long de l’année.

Nearly 300 kilometers from the nearest town, in the vast expanse of the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, a new gold mine is about to begin production. Faced with this isolation, Caterpillar is providing an autonomous power solution, designed to operate without interruption and support the site’s growth.

For West Gold Mining Limited, the challenge was significant: to guarantee a reliable power supply from the outset, while also anticipating future needs. Rather than building a costly grid connection infrastructure, the company opted for on-site power generation with two Cat G3500K gas-fired generators, selected with the support of Borusan Cat.

Designed to operate independently of the grid, this system provides a continuous and scalable power supply, capable of adapting to the increasing energy demands as the mine develops.

In this region with its demanding climate, where temperatures can plummet to -30°C in winter and soar above 30°C in summer, containerized equipment was chosen to ensure reliable operation year-round.

“We needed an off-grid energy solution capable of supporting our long-term ambitions,” emphasizes Erik Beken, Managing Director of West Gold Mining Limited. The Cat solution and local support have reinforced the company’s confidence in the installation’s performance and scalability.
