What if the true driving force of industry was, above all, human talent? In the Netherlands, DAF, Ergon, and Summa are demonstrating that intelligent collaboration between businesses, education, and public authorities can transform lives. Their joint initiative, the DAF Ergon Academy, has just won the prestigious SER Diversity in Business Award, recognizing its commitment to professional inclusion.
Launched in 2024 with the City of Eindhoven, this academy offers a second chance to people facing barriers to employment, including refugees with residency permits and benefit recipients. At the heart of the program: hands-on experience at the PACCAR Parts packaging center, combined with Dutch language learning, professional skills development, and logistics training provided by Summa.
The results speak for themselves. In 2025, 80 participants benefited from the program, and 53 secured regular employment with DAF, PACCAR Parts, or other employers in the Brainport region.
For the Dutch Economic and Social Council (SER), this initiative exemplifies the strength of a model that combines personalized support, training, and on-the-job experience to sustainably open doors to the job market.
Beyond the award, DAF, Ergon, and Summa highlight a core belief: talent exists everywhere, provided it is given the opportunity to flourish.
In an industry seeking skilled individuals, inclusion is not just a social commitment; it is also an investment in the future.
