L'Egypte entame la construction de sa première centrale nucléaire
La construction de la centrale nucléaire égyptienne US30b El-Dabaa a commencé par une cérémonie spéciale en présence d'Alexey Likhachev, directeur général de Rosatom, et de Mohamed Shaker, ministre égyptien de l'électricité et des énergies renouvelables.
Construite par le russe Rosatom, la centrale nucléaire d'El-Dabaa, première centrale nucléaire du pays, sera composée de 4 unités d'une capacité de production équivalente à 1200 MW par unité utilisant des réacteurs de génération III+ VVER-1200 (réacteurs à eau sous pression).
S'exprimant lors de la cérémonie, qui comprenait une première cérémonie de coulée de béton, Alexey Likhachev a déclaré : « Le lancement de la construction de l'unité 1 de la centrale nucléaire d'El-Dabaa signifie que l'Égypte a rejoint le club nucléaire. Rosatom construira des groupes électrogènes de pointe de conception VVER-1200 en République arabe d'Égypte. Nous avons acquis de l'expérience dans la construction et l'exploitation de centrales nucléaires avec de tels réacteurs en Russie et à l'étranger.
« La construction de la centrale nucléaire permettra à l'Égypte d'atteindre un nouveau niveau de développement technologique, industriel et éducatif. L'usine sera le plus grand projet de la coopération russo-égyptienne depuis le haut barrage d'Assouan. Avoir sa propre industrie de l'énergie nucléaire est un rêve pour le peuple égyptien depuis plus d'un demi-siècle, et c'est un grand honneur pour Rosatom de réaliser ce rêve.
Mohamed Shaker a ajouté : « La cérémonie de commémoration du coulage du premier béton de l'unité 1 est un grand plaisir pour nous. Le début de la construction à grande échelle de l'unité 1 est un événement historique pour l'Égypte. Le leadership politique et la coopération égypto-russe ont contribué à la mise en œuvre de ce projet ambitieux malgré les défis posés par la pandémie de COVID-19, qui n'a pas eu d'impact négatif sur le projet.
La centrale nucléaire d'El-Dabaa sera construite dans la ville d'El-Dabaa, gouvernorat de Matrouh, sur la côte méditerranéenne, à environ 300 km au nord-ouest du Caire.

Egypt begins construction of its first nuclear power plant
Construction of Egypt’s US30b El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, has begun with a special ceremony attended by Alexey Likhachev, Rosatom’s director general, and Mohamed Shaker, Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
Built by Russia’s Rosatom, the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, the country’s first nuclear power plant, will consist of 4 units with a generating capacity equivalent to 1200MW per unit using generation III+ VVER-1200 reactors (pressurized water reactors).
Speaking at the ceremony, which included a ceremonial first concrete pour, Alexey Likhachev said: “The construction launch at the El-Dabaa NPP Unit 1 means Egypt has joined the nuclear club. Rosatom will build cutting-edge power units of VVER-1200 design in the Arab Republic of Egypt. We have gained experience constructing and operating NPPs with such reactors both in Russia and abroad.
“The construction of the nuclear power plant will allow Egypt to reach a new level of technology, industry and education development. The plant will be the largest project of the Russian-Egyptian cooperation since the Aswan High Dam. Having its own nuclear energy industry has been a dream for the Egyptian people for more than half a century, and it is a great honour for Rosatom to make this dream come true.”
Mohamed Shaker added: “The ceremony commemorating the pouring of the first concrete for unit 1 is a great delight for us. The commencement of full-scale construction of unit 1 is a historic event for Egypt. The political leadership and the Egyptian-Russian cooperation contributed to the implementation of this ambitious project despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, which did not have a negative impact on the project.”
The El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will be constructed in the city of El-Dabaa, Matrouh Governorate, on the Mediterranean coast, roughly 300 km north-west of Cairo.

Egypte begint met de bouw van zijn eerste kerncentrale
De bouw van de US30b El-Dabaa-kerncentrale in Egypte is begonnen met een speciale ceremonie die werd bijgewoond door Alexey Likhachev, de directeur-generaal van Rosatom, en Mohamed Shaker, de Egyptische minister van Elektriciteit en Hernieuwbare Energie.
