Dans un décor alpin aussi spectaculaire qu’exigeant, Felbermayr a mené à bien le transport d’un transformateur de 140 tonnes destiné à la centrale hydroélectrique de pompage Kühtai 2, au Tyrol. Une opération d’exception, marquée par des routes de montagne étroites, des tunnels confinés et des pentes dépassant 16 %, qui a mis en lumière l’excellence technique et la parfaite coordination entre Felbermayr et Goldhofer.
Acheminé par rail jusqu’à Zirl, le transformateur a ensuite été transféré sur une combinaison de modules lourds à 15 essieux, associant la flexibilité de la FT SERIES et la puissance hybride du Goldhofer ADDRIVE. Long de 55 mètres, l’ensemble a permis un positionnement au millimètre près, même dans les passages les plus critiques, grâce à une configuration modulaire hautement adaptable et à une traction renforcée pour les fortes déclivités.
Ce transport hors normes s’inscrit dans un projet stratégique pour la transition énergétique autrichienne. Située à plus de 2 100 mètres d’altitude, la centrale Kühtai 2 affichera une puissance d’environ 190 MW et contribuera à une réduction annuelle de plus de 120 000 tonnes de CO₂.
« Sur les sections les plus raides, la puissance supplémentaire de l’ADDRIVE a été déterminante », souligne Erwin Uebel, ingénieur service chez Goldhofer. « La combinaison entre modules tractés et auto-propulsés offre une solution idéale pour les terrains extrêmes. »
Des deux côtés, la réussite de ce convoi XXL repose sur un partenariat étroit et une confiance mutuelle. « L’alliance entre notre expérience, la technologie Goldhofer et un service irréprochable a fait toute la différence », conclut Ingo Müller, chef de projet technique chez Felbermayr.

In a spectacular yet demanding alpine setting, Felbermayr successfully transported a 140-tonne transformer destined for the Kühtai 2 pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in Tyrol. This exceptional operation, marked by narrow mountain roads, confined tunnels, and gradients exceeding 16%, highlighted the technical excellence and seamless coordination between Felbermayr and Goldhofer.
Transported by rail to Zirl, the transformer was then transferred onto a combination of heavy-duty 15-axle modules, combining the flexibility of the FT SERIES with the hybrid power of the Goldhofer ADDRIVE. The 55-meter-long unit enabled millimeter-precise positioning, even in the most critical sections, thanks to a highly adaptable modular configuration and enhanced traction for steep inclines.
This extraordinary transport operation is part of a strategic project for Austria's energy transition. Located at an altitude of over 2,100 meters, the Kühtai 2 power plant will have a capacity of approximately 190 MW and contribute to an annual reduction of more than 120,000 tons of CO₂.
"On the steepest sections, the additional power of the ADDRIVE was crucial," emphasizes Erwin Uebel, Service Engineer at Goldhofer. "The combination of towed and self-propelled modules offers an ideal solution for extreme terrain."
For both parties, the success of this XXL convoy is based on a close partnership and mutual trust. "The combination of our experience, Goldhofer technology, and impeccable service made all the difference," concludes Ingo Müller, Technical Project Manager at Felbermayr.

In een spectaculaire maar veeleisende alpine omgeving heeft Felbermayr met succes een 140 ton zware transformator getransporteerd voor de pompwaterkrachtcentrale Kühtai 2 in Tirol. Deze uitzonderlijke operatie, gekenmerkt door smalle bergwegen, krappe tunnels en hellingen van meer dan 16%, benadrukte de technische expertise en naadloze samenwerking tussen Felbermayr en Goldhofer.
De transformator werd per spoor naar Zirl vervoerd en vervolgens overgeladen op een combinatie van zware 15-assige modules, die de flexibiliteit van de FT SERIES combineerden met de hybride kracht van de Goldhofer ADDRIVE.
