HITACHI REDESIGNS ITS AFRICAN MAP
Hitachi in Africa IMAGE SOURCE: Hitachi
A new network to support the Africa of tomorrow.
In West and Central Africa, a new chapter is beginning for Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe. The manufacturer is reorganizing its distribution network to bring its machines, parts, and expertise even closer to African markets.
At the end of the year, SMT will step down as Hitachi's distributor in the territories concerned, after several years dedicated to developing the brand and supporting its customers.
Now, a new structure is in place.
Machinery Distribution in Africa (MDA) becomes Hitachi's official partner in Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Central African Republic, Niger, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Mali. An ambitious expansion, covering a vast industrial corridor where the needs for earthmoving, infrastructure, and heavy equipment are constantly evolving.
At the same time, Movicortes' territory is expanding considerably: Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Liberia, Cape Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe are now part of its network.
But in Morocco and Mauritania, Hitachi is going further. HCME will establish a direct presence there dedicated to the mining sector, with the aim of strengthening technical assistance and closer ties with mining operations. Construction equipment activities will remain with Movicortes.
Behind this territorial redistribution lies a clear strategy: greater proximity, more original parts, enhanced technical expertise, and increased training and after-sales service capacity.
For Hitachi, this is therefore not simply a matter of changing names on a map. The goal is to build a network capable of supporting industrialization and major African projects over the long term.
The transition will be carried out jointly with SMT, MDA, and Movicortes to ensure business continuity and avoid any disruption for customers.
A new map is emerging. And beyond every border, Hitachi intends to place service at the heart of its African strategy.

HITACHI HERONTWERPT ZIJN AFRIKAANSE KAART
Hitachi in Africa IMAGE SOURCE: Hitachi
