L'Institut des carrières (IQ) a développé une nouvelle qualification géotechnique, offrant une approche flexible et innovante pour toute personne travaillant dans l'industrie.
En réponse aux commentaires des employeurs et des professionnels de l'industrie, et avec le soutien des MP Awards, l'IQ offre aux membres et aux non-membres l'accès aux nouveaux prix de niveau 3 et 4 en connaissances géotechniques pour la gestion des opérations de traitement des minéraux.
Les nouvelles qualifications géotechniques conviennent à tous ceux qui traitent des produits de carrière dans des rôles professionnels quotidiens. Composé d'un mélange unique de formation en classe évaluée, de visite du site, de modules d'apprentissage en ligne et d'une discussion professionnelle, il est adapté à l'environnement opérationnel des apprenants et peut être complété à leur propre rythme.
Anthony Elgey, chef de projet Éducation et compétences à l'IQ, explique : « En étroite collaboration avec MP Awards, l'IQ a développé de nouvelles qualifications géotechniques qui élèvent la norme et sous-tendent les compétences requises par le secteur, aujourd'hui et à l'avenir.
"L'une des principales améliorations apportées à la qualification est qu'elle est désormais axée sur le cheminement. Les apprenants peuvent choisir des modules et des unités adaptés à la géologie spécifique et aux besoins de l'environnement opérationnel, qu'il s'agisse d'une carrière, d'une opération de pierre dimensionnelle, d'une cimenterie, d'une sablière, d'un quai ou d'un dépôt ferroviaire.
"Le cours est flexible et peut être suivi au rythme des apprenants pour s'adapter aux horaires chargés de la vie professionnelle et de la vie privée. Nous avons également supprimé l'aspect examen et remplacé l'évaluation finale par une discussion professionnelle, un excellent moyen d'évaluer comment ils mettent la théorie en pratique.
Dans le cadre d'une approche à trois niveaux, les apprenants assisteront à une session de formation en classe d'une journée avec un spécialiste de l'industrie, qui guidera également les candidats lors d'une visite du site mettant la théorie dans le contexte du monde réel, suivie de l'achèvement d'un programme court. d'apprentissage en ligne sur mesure. The Institute of Quarrying (IQ) has developed a new geotechnical qualification, providing a flexible and innovative approach for anyone working in the industry.
Responding to feedback from employers and industry professionals, and with support from MP Awards, the IQ is offering members and non-members access to the new Level 3 and 4 Awards in Geotechnical Knowledge for Managing Mineral Processing Operations.
The new geotechnical qualifications are suitable for anyone dealing with quarried products in day-to-day job roles. Comprising a unique blend of assessed classroom training, site tour, e-learning modules, and a professional discussion, it is tailored to the learners’ operational environment and can be completed at their own pace.
Anthony Elgey, Education and Skills Project Manager at the IQ, explains: “Working closely with MP Awards, the IQ has developed new geotechnical qualifications that raises the standard and underpins the competencies required by the sector, both now and in the future.
“One of the key improvements to the qualification is that it is now pathway driven. Learners can choose tailored modules and units relevant to the specific geology and the needs of the operational environment, be it quarry, dimension stone operation, cement works, sand pit, wharf, or rail depot.
“The course is flexible and can be completed at the learners’ own pace to fit around busy work-life schedules. We’ve also removed the exam aspect and replaced the final assessment with a professional discussion, a great way of assessing how they put the theory into practice.”
As part of a three-tier approach, learners will attend a one day classroom training session with an industry specialist, who will also guide the candidates on a tour of the site putting theory into real world context, followed by the completion of a short programme of tailored online learning. The final step involves a professional discussion, whereby an assessor will evaluate that their knowledge meets the standard of the new qualification.
MP Awards, part of the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC), is a dedicated sector-specific Awarding Organisation for regulated qualifications. It also provides assessment solutions and a range of other services within the extractive, mineral processing and related manufacturing sectors.

De nieuwe geotechnische kwalificaties zijn geschikt voor iedereen die te maken heeft met ontgonnen producten in dagelijkse functies.
