IVECO, la société de transport et de logistique GLS Italie et le fournisseur d'énergie Vulcangas ont inauguré une nouvelle usine de Bio-GNL à la ferme Cascina Antegnatica près de Lodi, en Italie. La nouvelle usine produira du biométhane avec les déchets agricoles des fermes locales et fournira Vulcangas. Le bio-GNL sera utilisé pour alimenter les véhicules alimentés au GNL de la flotte de GLS Italie, qui comprend les camions IVECO S-WAY LNG.
Le biométhane est actuellement la seule technologie mature qui apporte une solution sans compromis sur les performances et les temps de ravitaillement par rapport au diesel. Il permet la neutralité carbone et, selon la matière première utilisée dans sa production, même une performance carbone-négative. Ses avantages s'étendent au-delà du secteur des transports en tant que catalyseur de l'indépendance énergétique avec le potentiel de faire baisser les prix et de contribuer au développement des zones rurales.
Le biométhane n'est pas seulement bénéfique pour l'environnement, il apporte également des avantages économiques. Le processus de production implique des sous-produits, tels que les engrais du digestat qui peuvent remplacer les engrais chimiques coûteux, et le dioxyde de carbone qui est principalement utilisé dans l'industrie alimentaire.

IVECO, transport and logistics company GLS Italy and energy supplier Vulcangas inaugurate a new Bio-LNG plant in Italy.
IVECO, transport and logistics company GLS Italy and energy supplier Vulcangas have inaugurated a new Bio-LNG plant at the Cascina Antegnatica farm near, Lodi, Italy. The new plant will produce biomethane with agricultural waste from local farms and supply Vulcangas. The Bio-LNG will be used to fuel the LNG-powered vehicles in GLS Italy’s fleet, which includes IVECO S-WAY LNG trucks.
Biomethane is currently the only mature technology that provides a solution with no compromise on performance and refuelling times compared to diesel. It enables carbon neutrality and, depending on the feedstock used in its production, even a carbon-negative performance. Its benefits extend beyond the transport sector as an enabler of energy independence with the potential to lower prices and contribute to the development of rural areas.
Biomethane doesn’t benefit only the environment – it also brings economic advantages. The production process involves by-products, such as fertiliser from the digestate which can replace costly chemical fertilisers, and the carbon dioxide which is used predominantly in the food industry.
Giandomenico Fioretti, IVECO Head of Alternative Propulsion Business Development, stated: “Today’s event is testament to IVECO’s belief in biomethane as a mature solution and its commitment to the decarbonization of transport. It is a tangible demonstration that Bio-LNG is an operationally and financially viable solution, available today. Today we are seeing a best practice in the energy supply chain with all players working together to develop a successful biomethane ecosystem.”
Alessandro Vagaggini, GLS Director of Operations, commented: “Our ambitions in the area of sustainability are underpinned by the joint efforts of many parts of our business. This initiative really underscores our commitment: we’re backing LNG-powered vehicles and we’re now in a position to supply them with Bio-LNG that fully meets our expectations.”

IVECO, transport- en logistiekbedrijf GLS Italië en energieleverancier Vulcangas hebben een nieuwe bio-LNG-fabriek ingehuldigd op de Cascina Antegnatica-boerderij in de buurt van Lodi, Italië. De nieuwe fabriek zal biomethaan produceren met landbouwafval van lokale boerderijen en Vulcangas leveren. De Bio-LNG zal worden gebruikt als brandstof voor de LNG-aangedreven voertuigen in de vloot van GLS Italy, waaronder IVECO S-WAY LNG-trucks.
Biomethaan is momenteel de enige volwassen technologie die een oplossing biedt zonder concessies te doen aan prestaties en tanktijden in vergelijking met diesel. Het maakt koolstofneutraliteit mogelijk en, afhankelijk van de grondstof die bij de productie wordt gebruikt, zelfs een koolstofnegatieve prestatie. De voordelen reiken verder dan de vervoerssector als een factor die energieonafhankelijkheid mogelijk maakt met het potentieel om de prijzen te verlagen en bij te dragen aan de ontwikkeling van plattelandsgebieden.
Biomethaan is niet alleen goed voor het milieu, het levert ook economische voordelen op. Het productieproces omvat bijproducten, zoals mest uit het digestaat dat kostbare chemische meststoffen kan vervangen, en de kooldioxide die vooral in de voedingsindustrie wordt gebruikt.
