Sous le vaste ciel du Texas, un projet d’envergure prend forme : JCB North America écrit un nouveau chapitre de son histoire avec la construction d’un complexe industriel de 500 millions de dollars à San Antonio.
Sur un terrain de 400 acres, les contours d’une usine ultramoderne se dessinent déjà, promesse d’un avenir dynamique pour l’entreprise et la communauté locale.

Cette installation, la plus ambitieuse de l’histoire de JCB en 80 ans d’existence, donnera naissance à environ 1 500 emplois et servira de centre névralgique pour la production de chariots télescopiques et de plates-formes élévatrices mobiles.
« Nous avançons selon le plan et sommes impatients de lancer la production l’an prochain, » confie avec enthousiasme David Carver, directeur des opérations de JCB San Antonio.
« Nous avons hâte de construire, ici même, les produits qui serviront nos clients partout sur le continent. »

En avril dernier, JCB annonçait l’agrandissement du site, portant sa superficie totale à près d’un million de pieds carrés. Ce développement illustre la confiance renouvelée de la marque dans le marché nord-américain, mais aussi sa volonté de rapprocher la production de ses clients afin de réduire les délais de livraison et de renforcer la résilience de sa chaîne d’approvisionnement.

« Depuis un demi-siècle, nous sommes fiers de fabriquer aux États-Unis : d’abord à Baltimore, puis à Savannah. Aujourd’hui, avec San Antonio, nous franchissons une nouvelle étape audacieuse, » déclare Richard Fox-Marrs, PDG de JCB North America.
« Une fois achevé, ce site deviendra le plus grand complexe JCB au monde. »

Le choix du Texas s’est imposé naturellement : l’État représente à lui seul le plus grand marché de matériel de construction du pays. La localisation de San Antonio, au cœur du territoire, permettra de desservir efficacement tout le continent américain.
« Nous diversifions notre empreinte manufacturière pour gagner en flexibilité et en résilience sur l’ensemble de nos opérations nord-américaines, » ajoute Fox-Marrs.

Des fondations solides pour un futur prometteur

Depuis la première pelletée de terre en juin 2024, les progrès sont spectaculaires.
Sous la direction du cabinet d’architecture RVK, une entreprise détenue par des femmes et reconnue pour son savoir-faire industriel, le chantier a pris vie.
Les équipes de R&S Excavation Ltd. ont déplacé plus d’un million de tonnes de terre, tandis qu’Ella Contracting a posé près de six kilomètres de conduites d’eau, d’égouts et de drainage.

Aujourd’hui, avec les fondations achevées, les structures s’élèvent enfin vers le ciel texan. Joeris General Contractors, société locale, orchestre cette nouvelle phase de construction : la naissance concrète des bâtiments de production et des bureaux.

Un ancrage humain et durable

Mais au-delà de la pierre et de l’acier, c’est le facteur humain qui anime le cœur du projet.
JCB a déjà entamé le recrutement de postes clés, avec une attention particulière portée à la main-d’œuvre locale et aux anciens combattants.
« Nous sommes profondément attachés à la communauté que nous rejoignons. En collaborant avec les établissements d’enseignement et en offrant des parcours de carrière durables, nous construisons bien plus qu’une usine : nous bâtissons un avenir commun, » souligne Carver.

Le site de San Antonio symbolise un engagement à long terme envers le marché nord-américain. Il comprendra un centre de démonstration et même un ranch expérimental pour enrichir l’expérience client. À terme, sa capacité permettra de tripler la production actuelle.

« Cette nouvelle installation a été conçue pour la flexibilité et la croissance. Elle pourra fabriquer n’importe quel produit JCB à venir, répondant rapidement et efficacement aux besoins de nos clients, » conclut Fox-Marrs.

Avec San Antonio, JCB ne se contente pas d’étendre son empreinte industrielle : l’entreprise érige un symbole de confiance, d’innovation et de partenariat durable avec l’Amérique du Nord.

A New Era for JCB in North America

Under the vast Texas sky, a major project is taking shape: JCB North America is writing a new chapter in its history with the construction of a $500 million manufacturing complex in San Antonio.
On a 400-acre site, the outlines of a state-of-the-art factory are already emerging, promising a dynamic future for the company and the local community.

This facility, the most ambitious in JCB's 80-year history, will create approximately 1,500 jobs and will serve as a central hub for the production of telescopic handlers and mobile elevating work platforms.
"We are on schedule and look forward to starting production next year," says David Carver, Operations Director of JCB San Antonio.
"We are eager to build, right here, the products that will serve our customers across the continent."

Last April, JCB announced the expansion of the site, bringing its total area to nearly one million square feet. This development illustrates the brand's renewed confidence in the North American market, as well as its desire to bring production closer to its customers in order to reduce delivery times and strengthen the resilience of its supply chain.

"For half a century, we have been proud to manufacture in the United States: first in Baltimore, then in Savannah. Today, with San Antonio, we are taking another bold step," says Richard Fox-Marrs, CEO of JCB North America.
"Once completed, this site will become the largest JCB complex in the world."

The choice of Texas was a natural one: the state alone represents the largest construction equipment market in the country. San Antonio's central location will allow for efficient service to the entire American continent. “We are diversifying our manufacturing footprint to gain flexibility and resilience across our North American operations,” adds Fox-Marrs.

A Solid Foundation for a Promising Future

Since the groundbreaking ceremony in June 2024, progress has been spectacular.
Under the direction of RVK Architecture, a women-owned firm recognized for its industrial expertise, the construction site has come to life.
The teams at R&S Excavation Ltd. have moved more than a million tons of earth, while Ella Contracting has laid nearly six kilometers of water, sewer, and drainage pipes.

Today, with the foundations complete, the structures are finally rising towards the Texan sky. Joeris General Contractors, a local company, is orchestrating this new phase of construction: the concrete realization of the production buildings and offices.

A Human and Sustainable Commitment

But beyond the stone and steel, it is the human factor that drives the heart of the project.
JCB has already begun recruiting for key positions, with a particular focus on local labor and veterans.
“We are deeply committed to the community we are joining. By collaborating with educational institutions and offering sustainable career paths, we are building much more than a factory: we are building a shared future,” emphasizes Carver.

The San Antonio site symbolizes a long-term commitment to the North American market. It will include a demonstration center and even an experimental ranch to enhance the customer experience. Ultimately, its capacity will allow for a tripling of current production.

“This new facility has been designed for flexibility and growth. It will be able to manufacture any future JCB product, responding quickly and efficiently to our customers' needs,” concludes Fox-Marrs. Onder de uitgestrekte Texaanse hemel krijgt een groot project vorm: JCB Noord-Amerika schrijft een nieuw hoofdstuk in zijn geschiedenis met de bouw van een industrieel complex van $ 500 miljoen in San Antonio.
Op 400 hectare krijgen de contouren van een ultramoderne fabriek al vorm, die een dynamische toekomst belooft voor het bedrijf en de lokale gemeenschap.

De keuze voor Texas was een logische: de staat vertegenwoordigt op zichzelf al de grootste markt voor bouwmachines in het land. De ligging van San Antonio, in het hart van de regio, stelt ons in staat om het hele Amerikaanse continent efficiënt te bedienen.

Een solide basis voor een veelbelovende toekomst

Sinds de eerste steenlegging in juni 2024 is de vooruitgang spectaculair geweest. Onder leiding van RVK Architecture, een door vrouwen gerund bedrijf dat bekendstaat om zijn industriële expertise, is de bouwplaats tot leven gekomen.
Ploegen van R&S Excavation Ltd. hebben meer dan een miljoen ton grond verplaatst, terwijl Ella Contracting bijna zes kilometer aan water-, riool- en drainagebuizen heeft aangelegd.

Nu de fundering is voltooid, stijgen de constructies eindelijk de Texaanse hemel in. Joeris General Contractors, een lokaal bedrijf, orkestreert deze nieuwe bouwfase: de betonnen geboorte van de productie- en kantoorgebouwen.

Een duurzame menselijke basis

Maar naast steen en staal is het de menselijke factor die het project drijft.
JCB is al begonnen met het werven van personeel voor sleutelposities, met bijzondere aandacht voor de lokale beroepsbevolking en veteranen.
"We zijn zeer betrokken bij de gemeenschap waar we ons bij aansluiten. Door samen te werken met onderwijsinstellingen en duurzame carrièremogelijkheden aan te bieden, bouwen we meer dan alleen een fabriek: we bouwen aan een gezamenlijke toekomst", benadrukt Carver.

De locatie in San Antonio symboliseert een langdurige verbintenis met de Noord-Amerikaanse markt. Het omvat een demonstratiecentrum en zelfs een experimentele ranch om de klantervaring te verbeteren. Uiteindelijk zal de capaciteit verdrievoudigen ten opzichte van de huidige productie.

"Deze nieuwe faciliteit is ontworpen voor flexibiliteit en groei. Ze zal in staat zijn om elk toekomstig JCB-product te produceren en snel en efficiënt in te spelen op de behoeften van onze klanten", concludeert Fox-Marrs.
