Pour John Deere, l’année 2025 s’est refermée comme un chapitre chargé d’incertitudes. Après une période marquée par les tensions économiques mondiales et un marché agricole hésitant, le géant du machinisme a vu ses ventes glisser de 12 %, retombant à 45,68 milliards de dollars, contre 51,03 milliards l’an passé. Le résultat net a suivi la même tendance, passant de 7,1 milliards à 5,03 milliards de dollars.

Certaines divisions ont été plus touchées que d’autres. La branche Production & Precision Agriculture, pilier historique de l’entreprise, a subi une baisse de 17 %, tandis que Construction & Forestry reculait de 12 %.
Sur le terrain, des machines emblématiques comme le forwarder 1610G, infatigable compagnon des travaux forestiers, ont continué de tracer leur route — parfois comme un symbole de résilience au cœur d’une année difficile.

Et pourtant, dans ce paysage contrasté, quelques éclaircies ont percé. En fin d’exercice, l’entreprise a perçu de premiers signes de stabilisation. Le quatrième trimestre a même affiché une hausse de 11 % du chiffre d’affaires mondial, atteignant 12,39 milliards de dollars. Le bénéfice trimestriel, lui, s’est tassé à 1,07 milliard, contre 1,25 milliard en 2024.

Le président-directeur général, John May, reconnaît sans détour la rudesse du chemin parcouru :

“Cette année nous a apporté son lot de défis et d’incertitudes, mais grâce aux améliorations structurelles que nous avons mises en place et à la diversité de nos marchés, nous avons réussi à obtenir nos meilleurs résultats pour ce stade du cycle.”

Avec prudence mais conviction, May estime que 2026 pourrait marquer le creux du cycle pour les grandes machines agricoles. L’entreprise s’attend à ce que la petite agriculture, les équipements de jardin et le secteur Construction & Forestry apportent un souffle de croissance, compensant la mollesse persistante des marchés agricoles traditionnels.

Pour l’exercice à venir, John Deere prévoit un bénéfice net compris entre 4,0 et 4,75 milliards de dollars, un horizon empreint de réalisme mais aussi d’une certaine confiance retrouvée.

After a period marked by global economic tensions and a hesitant agricultural market, the machinery giant saw its sales slip by 12%, falling to $45.68 billion, compared to $51.03 billion last year. Net income followed the same trend, dropping from $7.1 billion to $5.03 billion.

Some divisions were more affected than others. The Production & Precision Agriculture division, a historical pillar of the company, suffered a 17% decline, while Construction & Forestry fell by 12%. In the field, iconic machines like the 1610G forwarder, the tireless companion of forestry work, continued to forge ahead—sometimes as a symbol of resilience in the midst of a difficult year.

And yet, in this mixed landscape, some bright spots emerged. At the end of the fiscal year, the company saw initial signs of stabilization. The fourth quarter even posted an 11% increase in global revenue, reaching $12.39 billion. Quarterly profit, however, dipped to $1.07 billion, compared to $1.25 billion in 2024.

CEO John May readily acknowledges the challenging road ahead:

“This year has brought its share of challenges and uncertainties, but thanks to the structural improvements we have implemented and the diversity of our markets, we have managed to achieve our best results for this stage of the cycle.”

With caution but conviction, May believes that 2026 could mark the bottom of the cycle for large agricultural machinery. The company expects small-scale farming, garden equipment, and the Construction & Forestry sector to provide a boost in growth, offsetting the continued sluggishness of traditional agricultural markets.

For the coming fiscal year, John Deere forecasts net income between $4.0 billion and $4.75 billion, a realistic outlook that also reflects a certain renewed confidence.
