Komatsu Ltd. a reçu le Grand Prix lors de la 21e édition des Corporate Philanthropy Awards parrainés par l'Association philanthropique japonaise en reconnaissance des efforts de Komatsu dans l'élimination des mines terrestres antipersonnel et le soutien au développement communautaire, l'une des activités de contribution sociale de l'entreprise.

La cérémonie de présentation a eu lieu le 1er mars à GAKUSHIKAIKAN, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

Ce programme de prix récompense les activités de contribution sociale qui utilisent de manière organique et durable les ressources de gestion de l’entreprise (ressources humaines, savoir-faire, technologie, information, etc.) pour résoudre des problèmes sociaux. Le programme a été créé en 2003 dans le but de transmettre une société juste, chaleureuse et dynamique à la prochaine génération en la communiquant à la société dans son ensemble.

Un représentant de Komatsu a déclaré : « Alors que nous capitalisons notre expertise en tant que fabricant d'équipements de construction et d'exploitation minière, nous travaillons depuis 2008 avec le Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS), une organisation à but non lucratif certifiée. Au Cambodge et dans d'autres régions qui ont souffert de dommages causés par les mines antipersonnel, dans le but de développer les communautés depuis l’élimination des mines jusqu’à la reconstruction.

Cette activité, utilisant du matériel de déminage antipersonnel et des engins de chantier prêtés gratuitement, s'est étendue à l'Angola et au Laos, et a permis de dépolluer au total plus de 5 000 ha de terres. En outre, les terres défrichées ont été restaurées et améliorées pour être utilisées comme terres agricoles et comme routes, contribuant ainsi à doubler la récolte de riz.

Un représentant de Komatsu a déclaré : « Comme nous pensons que l'éducation de la prochaine génération est importante après le retour des résidents dans des terres plus sûres, nous avons construit de nouvelles écoles élémentaires ou reconstruit des écoles, portant le nombre total de ces écoles à 10 rien qu'au Cambodge. Ces dernières années, certains des diplômés de ces écoles élémentaires attendaient avec impatience d’aller à l’université, et nous avons lancé un programme de bourses pour l’exercice 2023. »

Le Grand Prix a été décerné en reconnaissance de nos efforts audacieux et diligents pour revitaliser la région, qui ne se limitent pas aux seules activités de déminage.

Un représentant de Komatsu a déclaré : « Nous transformons une terre dangereuse contaminée par des mines terrestres non seulement en une terre où les gens peuvent vivre en sécurité et se sentir à l'aise, mais aussi en une terre à valeur ajoutée grâce à la construction de routes et d'écoles primaires. À cette fin, nous continuerons à promouvoir des activités qui contribuent à la reconstruction autonome de communautés entières en apportant notre soutien par le biais de notre entreprise.

Komatsu awarded 21st Corporate Philanthropy Award

Komatsu Ltd. was awarded the Grand Prize at the 21st Corporate Philanthropy Awards sponsored by the Japan Philanthropic Association in recognition of Komatsu’s efforts in clearing anti-Personnel landmines and community development support, one of the company’s social contribution activities.

The presentation ceremony was held on March 1 at GAKUSHIKAIKAN, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

This award program honours social contribution activities that organically and sustainably utilize the company’s management resources (human resources, know-how, technology, information, etc.) to solve social issues. The program was established in 2003 with the aim of conveying a fair, warm, and vibrant society to the next generation by communicating it to society at large.

A Komatsu representative, said: “As we capitalize our expertise as a construction and mining equipment manufacturer, we have been working with Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS), a certified non-profit organization, since 2008 in Cambodia and other areas have suffered from anti-personnel landmine damage, with the aim of developing communities from landmine disposal to reconstruction.”

This activity, using anti-personnel demining equipment and construction machinery loaned free of charge, has expanded to Angola and Laos, and has cleared a cumulative sum of over 5,000 ha of land. In addition, the cleared land has been restored and improved for use as farmland and roads, contributing to doubling the rice harvest as well.

A Komatsu representative, said: “As we believe that education for the next generation is important after the return of residents to safer land, we have built new elementary schools or reconstructed schools, recording the total number of such schools to 10 in Cambodia alone. In recent years, some of the graduates of these elementary schools have been looking forward to go on to university, and we have launched a scholarship program in FY2023.”

The Grand Prize was awarded in recognition of our bold and diligent efforts to revitalize the region, which are not limited to landmine clearance activities alone.

A Komatsu representative, said: “We are transforming a dangerous land contaminated with landmines into not only a land where people can live safely and feel at ease, but also a land with added value through the construction of roads and elementary school. To this end, we will continue to promote activities that contribute to the self-sustaining reconstruction of entire communities by providing support through our business.”

Een vertegenwoordiger van Komatsu zei: “We transformeren een gevaarlijk land dat besmet is met landmijnen niet alleen in een land waar mensen veilig kunnen leven en zich op hun gemak kunnen voelen, maar ook een land met toegevoegde waarde door de aanleg van wegen en basisschool.
