Chez Komatsu, la polyvalence n’est pas un slogan, mais le résultat d’une démarche rigoureuse, éprouvée sur le terrain. Avec le lancement du WA170M-11, le constructeur japonais redéfinit les standards des chargeurs sur pneus compacts dans la catégorie des 10 tonnes, en combinant innovation technique, écoute client et tests intensifs en conditions réelles.

Conçu et produit par Komatsu Germany GmbH – Construction, à Hanovre, le WA170M-11 se distingue dès sa conception par une approche inédite dans ce segment : proposer deux cinématiques de chargeur. Aux côtés de la traditionnelle cinématique en Z, Komatsu introduit pour la première fois dans cette classe de machines sa célèbre cinématique Tool Linkage, jusqu’alors réservée aux modèles de plus grande capacité.

Une machine pensée pour s’adapter à tous les chantiers

Ce choix stratégique ouvre de nouvelles perspectives d’utilisation. Grâce à la cinématique Tool Linkage, le WA170M-11 devient compatible avec une large gamme d’accessoires existants, offrant une flexibilité exceptionnelle pour des applications variées : manutention, recyclage, travaux municipaux ou encore traitement des déchets.

« Proposer la cinématique Tool Linkage sur le WA170M-11 permet à nos clients de tirer le maximum de leur machine, quelle que soit la tâche à accomplir », explique Henrik von Werder, Product Manager chez Komatsu Europe. « C’est une source de valeur ajoutée concrète sur le terrain. »

500 heures d’essais pour une fiabilité sans compromis

Avant même son entrée en production de série, Komatsu a fait un choix fort : porter le programme de tests de 100 à 500 heures, afin de peaufiner chaque détail. Cette phase d’essais renforcée a été menée en étroite collaboration avec plusieurs clients, dont Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH, une plateforme allemande spécialisée dans le traitement des déchets organiques.

Sur des terrains variés et dans des environnements exigeants, les opérateurs ont mis la machine à l’épreuve, livrant un retour direct et précieux aux équipes d’ingénierie.

Le regard des opérateurs au cœur du développement

Pour Thorsten Schmidt, conducteur de chargeuse sur pneus chez Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH, cette collaboration a fait toute la différence :

Depuis sa présentation officielle au salon Bauma en avril 2025, le WA170M-11 suscite un vif intérêt sur le marché. Les retours clients sont très positifs et les premières commandes ont déjà été enregistrées. Les essais finaux étant désormais achevés, Komatsu se prépare à livrer les premières machines.

With the launch of the WA170M-11, the Japanese manufacturer is redefining the standards for compact wheel loaders in the 10-tonne class, combining technical innovation, customer feedback, and intensive testing in real-world conditions.

Designed and produced by Komatsu Germany GmbH – Construction in Hanover, the WA170M-11 stands out from the outset with a unique approach in this segment: offering two loader linkages. Alongside the traditional Z-bar linkage, Komatsu is introducing its renowned Tool Linkage linkage to this class of machines for the first time, a system previously reserved for larger capacity models.

A machine designed to adapt to any job site

This strategic choice opens up new possibilities for use. Thanks to Tool Linkage kinematics, the WA170M-11 is compatible with a wide range of existing attachments, offering exceptional flexibility for diverse applications: material handling, recycling, municipal work, and waste management.

“Offering Tool Linkage kinematics on the WA170M-11 allows our customers to get the most out of their machine, whatever the task,” explains Henrik von Werder, Product Manager at Komatsu Europe. “It’s a source of tangible added value in the field.”

500 hours of testing for uncompromising reliability

Even before entering series production, Komatsu made a bold decision: to increase the testing program from 100 to 500 hours, in order to refine every detail. This enhanced testing phase was conducted in close collaboration with several customers, including Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH, a German platform specializing in organic waste processing.

On varied terrain and in demanding environments, operators put the machine to the test, providing direct and valuable feedback to the engineering teams.

Operator feedback at the heart of development

For Thorsten Schmidt, a wheel loader operator at Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH, this collaboration made all the difference:

“Participating in the WA170M-11 trials was a very positive experience. Working hand in hand with Komatsu allows us to go far beyond traditional optimization.”

He also emphasizes the qualities he experiences daily:

“The machine is very stable, the cab is spacious and offers excellent all-around visibility. The controls are smooth and intuitive, making work comfortable and efficient, even on long days.”

Since its official unveiling at the Bauma trade fair in April 2025, the WA170M-11 has generated considerable interest in the market. Customer feedback has been very positive, and the first orders have already been placed. With final testing now complete, Komatsu is preparing to deliver the first machines.

Met de introductie van de WA170M-11 herdefinieert de Japanse fabrikant de normen voor compacte wielladers in de 10-tons klasse, door technische innovatie, feedback van klanten en intensieve tests in de praktijk te combineren.

De WA170M-11, ontworpen en geproduceerd door Komatsu Germany GmbH – Construction in Hannover, onderscheidt zich vanaf het begin door een unieke aanpak in dit segment: twee laadarmsystemen. Naast de traditionele Z-stangkoppeling introduceert Komatsu voor het eerst in deze machineklasse het befaamde Tool Linkage-systeem, een systeem dat voorheen alleen beschikbaar was voor modellen met een grotere capaciteit.

500 uur testen voor compromisloze betrouwbaarheid

Nog vóór de start van de serieproductie nam Komatsu een gedurfde beslissing: het testprogramma uitbreiden van 100 naar 500 uur om elk detail te verfijnen. Deze uitgebreide testfase werd uitgevoerd in nauwe samenwerking met verschillende klanten, waaronder Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH, een Duits platform gespecialiseerd in de verwerking van organisch afval.

Op gevarieerd terrein en in veeleisende omgevingen stelden operators de machine op de proef en leverden zo directe en waardevolle feedback aan de engineeringteams.

De reacties van klanten zijn zeer positief en de eerste bestellingen zijn al geplaatst. Nu de laatste tests zijn afgerond, bereidt Komatsu zich voor op de levering van de eerste machines.
