Le fabricant d'équipements de construction Liebherr a annoncé une croissance record de son chiffre d'affaires pour l'exercice 2022.

L'entreprise germano-suisse a réalisé un chiffre d'affaires annuel de 12,59 milliards d'euros, soit une amélioration de 950 millions d'euros par rapport à 2021 - qui était la précédente année record de l'entreprise en termes de chiffre d'affaires.

Selon ses états financiers annuels, Liebherr a enregistré des augmentations dans 10 de ses 13 segments de produits.

Dans ses segments de la construction et de l'exploitation minière - terrassement, technologie de manutention, machines pour fondations profondes, grues mobiles et sur chenilles, grues à tour, technologie du béton et équipement minier - l'entreprise a enregistré une augmentation moyenne de son chiffre d'affaires de 6,9 %.

Progrès régional

D'un point de vue régional, le chiffre d'affaires du groupe n'a augmenté que légèrement en Europe - traditionnellement le marché le plus fort pour l'entreprise - mais avec des mouvements positifs en Italie et aux Pays-Bas comme points forts.

Liebherr a fait état d'une évolution plus positive du chiffre d'affaires de ses activités en Amérique du Nord, centrale et du Sud, en particulier aux États-Unis, au Canada et au Brésil.

La société s'est dite satisfaite des gains réalisés en Afrique ainsi qu'au Proche et au Moyen-Orient, tandis que le chiffre d'affaires en Asie et en Océanie serait légèrement supérieur au niveau de l'année précédente.

Activité R&D

Le groupe a dépensé 588 millions d'euros en recherche et développement au cours de l'exercice 2022 ; une grande partie était consacrée aux technologies d'entraînement alternatives.

Liebherr a déclaré qu'il adoptait une approche technologiquement neutre pour ses recherches, qui comprend l'utilisation accrue d'huiles végétales hydrogénées (HVO), pour une utilisation potentielle dans les équipements de construction.

Au cours de l'année, la société a également ajouté six modèles de grues et d'appareils de forage à sa gamme débranchée de machines à entraînement électrique.

Un autre domaine de recherche mis en évidence dans la déclaration de Liebherr était la numérisation ; la société a déclaré qu'elle s'était concentrée sur un certain nombre de segments, notamment les solutions de caméra-moniteur et de télécommande pour une sécurité accrue sur site, et les systèmes d'assistance avancés, en particulier pour les camions miniers.

Défis et opportunités

Le résultat net de Liebherr s'est établi à 2 millions d'euros en 2022, avec un résultat opérationnel et un résultat financier en forte baisse par rapport à l'année précédente.

Le nombre d'employés a cependant augmenté en 2022, pour atteindre 51 321 employés dans le monde, soit une augmentation de 1 710 par rapport à l'année précédente.

En outre, le groupe a investi 863 millions d'euros dans un mix de sites de production et dans ses réseaux mondiaux de distribution et de service, soit une augmentation de 121 millions d'euros par rapport à l'année précédente.

Regarder vers l'avant

Le groupe Liebherr s'est montré positif, en termes de carnet de commandes, mais a souligné l'incertitude concernant la guerre en Ukraine et les effets persistants des sanctions contre la Russie.

Malgré les défis macroéconomiques persistants, les fortes hausses de prix et les pénuries de main-d'œuvre, l'entreprise prévoit une nouvelle croissance de son chiffre d'affaires en 2023.

Construction equipment manufacturer Liebherr has reported record growth in its turnover for the 2022 business year.

The German-Swiss company posted an annual turnover of €12.59 billion, an improvement of €950 million on 2021 – which was the company’s previous record year for turnover.

According to its annual financial statement, Liebherr saw increases in 10 of its 13 product segments.

In its construction and mining segments – earthmoving, material handling technology, deep foundation machines, mobile and crawler cranes, tower cranes, concrete technology and mining equipment – the company reported an average increase in turnover of 6.9%.

Regional progress

From a regional perspective, the group’s turnover had increased only slightly in Europe – traditionally the strongest market for the company – but with positive movement in Italy and the Netherlands as highlights.

Liebherr reported more positive movement in turnover from its North, Central and South American activities, particularly in the US and Canada and in Brazil.

The company said it was pleased with the gains it had made in Africa as well as in the Near and Middle East, while turnover in Asia and Oceania was reported to be slightly above the previous year’s level.

R&D activity

The group spent €588 million in research and development during the 2022 business year; much of this was dedicated to alternative drive technologies.

Liebherr said it is taking a technology neutral approach to its research, which includes the increased use of hydrogenated vegetable oils (HVO), for potential use in construction equipment.

During the year, the company also added six crane and drilling rig models to its unplugged range of electric-drive machines.

Another area of research highlighted in the Liebherr statement was digitalisation; the company said it had focused on a number of segments, including camera-monitor and remote-control solutions for increased on-site safety, and advanced assistance systems, particularly for mining trucks.

Challenges and opportunities

Liebherr’s net income was reported at €2 million in 2022, with operating results and the financial result decreasing significantly compared with the previous year.

Employee numbers, however, grew in 2022, to 51,321 employees worldwide – an increase of 1,710 on the previous year.

Furthermore, the group invested €863 million in a mix of production sites and in its global distribution and service networks – an increase of €121 million on the previous year.

Looking ahead

The Liebherr Group reported positivity, in terms of its order book, but highlighted uncertainty regarding the war in Ukraine and the ongoing effects of sanctions against Russia.

In spite of ongoing macroeconomic challenges, broad price increases and labour shortages, the company forecast further growth in turnover in 2023.

Fabrikant van bouwmachines Liebherr heeft voor het boekjaar 2022 een recordgroei van zijn omzet gemeld.

Het Duits-Zwitserse bedrijf boekte een jaaromzet van € 12,59 miljard, een verbetering van € 950 miljoen ten opzichte van 2021 – het vorige omzetrecordjaar van het bedrijf.

Volgens de jaarrekening zag Liebherr stijgingen in 10 van zijn 13 productsegmenten.

In de segmenten bouw en mijnbouw – grondverzet, overslagtechniek, diepfunderingsmachines, mobiele en rupskranen, torenkranen, betontechniek en mijnbouwmaterieel – rapporteerde het bedrijf een gemiddelde omzetstijging van 6,9%.

Regionale vooruitgang

Regionaal gezien was de omzet van de groep slechts licht gestegen in Europa – traditioneel de sterkste markt voor het bedrijf – maar met positieve ontwikkelingen in Italië en Nederland als hoogtepunten.

Liebherr rapporteerde een positievere omzetontwikkeling van haar Noord-, Midden- en Zuid-Amerikaanse activiteiten, met name in de VS en Canada en in Brazilië.

Het bedrijf zei tevreden te zijn met de winst die het boekte in Afrika en in het Nabije en Midden-Oosten, terwijl de omzet in Azië en Oceanië naar verluidt iets boven het niveau van vorig jaar lag.

R&D-activiteit

De groep heeft tijdens het boekjaar 2022 € 588 miljoen uitgegeven aan onderzoek en ontwikkeling; veel hiervan was gewijd aan alternatieve aandrijftechnologieën.

Liebherr zei dat het een technologieneutrale benadering hanteert voor zijn onderzoek, waaronder het toegenomen gebruik van gehydrogeneerde plantaardige oliën (HVO), voor mogelijk gebruik in bouwmachines.

In de loop van het jaar voegde het bedrijf ook zes kraan- en boorplatformmodellen toe aan zijn unplugged-assortiment van elektrisch aangedreven machines.

Een ander onderzoeksgebied dat in de verklaring van Liebherr naar voren kwam, was digitalisering; het bedrijf zei dat het zich op een aantal segmenten had gericht, waaronder camera-monitor- en afstandsbedieningsoplossingen voor meer veiligheid op locatie, en geavanceerde assistentiesystemen, met name voor mijnbouwtrucks.

Uitdagingen en kansen

Het nettoresultaat van Liebherr werd gerapporteerd op € 2 miljoen in 2022, waarbij de bedrijfsresultaten en het financiële resultaat aanzienlijk daalden in vergelijking met het voorgaande jaar.

Het aantal medewerkers groeide in 2022 echter tot 51.321 medewerkers wereldwijd – een stijging van 1.710 ten opzichte van het voorgaande jaar.

Bovendien investeerde de groep € 863 miljoen in een mix van productievestigingen en in zijn wereldwijde distributie- en servicenetwerken – een stijging van € 121 miljoen ten opzichte van het voorgaande jaar.

Vooruit kijken

De Liebherr Group rapporteerde positief over het orderboek, maar benadrukte de onzekerheid over de oorlog in Oekraïne en de aanhoudende effecten van sancties tegen Rusland.

Ondanks aanhoudende macro-economische uitdagingen, brede prijsstijgingen en krapte op de arbeidsmarkt verwacht het bedrijf in 2023 een verdere omzetgroei.
