À Mazidagi, en Turquie, Eti Bakir franchit une étape majeure dans cette vision avec un investissement de 55 millions d'euros confié à Metso. L'objectif est ambitieux : faire évoluer son complexe intégré de production d'engrais et de métaux vers un modèle industriel zéro déchet, en transformant les résidus issus du procédé de lixiviation en produits industriels valorisables.

Au cœur de cette transformation, Metso déploiera pour la première fois à l'échelle commerciale sa technologie DRI Smelting Furnace. Associée à un four rotatif SL/RN Xtra et à un système d'alimentation à chaud, cette solution intégrée permettra de convertir les résidus en fer et en laitier, tout en réduisant les flux de déchets du site.

Une nouvelle vie pour les résidus

L'enjeu dépasse la simple performance industrielle. Il s'agit de repenser le cycle de production : récupérer ce qui était autrefois considéré comme un sous-produit, lui donner une nouvelle valeur et réduire simultanément l'empreinte environnementale.

Avec son four de fusion DRI de 30 MVA, Metso associe traitement thermique et technologie pyrométallurgique pour produire du métal chaud à partir de matières résiduelles complexes.

Un partenariat qui entre dans une nouvelle dimension

Cette avancée s'inscrit dans une collaboration de longue date entre Metso et Eti Bakir. Au fil des années, Metso a déjà fourni au complexe de Mazidagi plusieurs installations majeures : traitement et enrichissement, calcination, épuration des gaz, acide sulfurique et récupération des métaux par lixiviation.

In Mazidagi, Turkey, Eti Bakir is taking a major step toward this vision with a €55 million investment in Metso. The goal is ambitious: to transform its integrated fertilizer and metal production complex into a zero-waste industrial model by converting leaching residues into valuable industrial products.

Combined with an SL/RN Xtra rotary kiln and a hot feed system, this integrated solution will convert residues into iron and slag, while reducing the site's waste streams.

Mazidagi, Turkije — Wat als industrieel afval een nieuwe bron van waarde zou worden?

In Mazidagi, Turkije, zet Eti Bakir een belangrijke stap richting deze visie met een investering van € 55 miljoen in Metso. Het doel is ambitieus: het geïntegreerde complex voor de productie van kunstmest en metalen transformeren tot een afvalvrij industrieel model door uitloogresiduen om te zetten in waardevolle industriële producten.

Centraal in deze transformatie staat de voor het eerst op commerciële schaal inzet van de DRI-smeltoventechnologie van Metso. In combinatie met een SL/RN Xtra-draaioven en een warmtoevoersysteem zal deze geïntegreerde oplossing residuen omzetten in ijzer en slak, terwijl de afvalstromen van de locatie worden verminderd.

Een nieuw leven voor afval

Het gaat verder dan alleen industriële prestaties. Het doel is om de productiecyclus te herzien: wat ooit als bijproduct werd beschouwd, terugwinnen, er nieuwe waarde aan geven en tegelijkertijd de ecologische voetafdruk verkleinen.

Met zijn 30 MVA DRI-smeltoven combineert Metso warmtebehandeling en pyrometallurgische technologie om vloeibaar metaal te produceren uit complexe afvalmaterialen.

Een partnerschap dat een nieuwe dimensie ingaat

Deze ontwikkeling is onderdeel van een langdurige samenwerking tussen Metso en Eti Bakir. In de loop der jaren heeft Metso het Mazidagi-complex al voorzien van diverse belangrijke installaties: verwerking en verrijking, calcineren, gasreiniging, zwavelzuur en metaalterugwinning door middel van uitloging.

Vandaag begint een nieuw hoofdstuk.

Met deze eerste commerciële levering van zijn DRI-smeltoventechnologie transformeert Metso een afvalproduct in een grondstof – en wordt Mazidagi een volwaardig laboratorium voor een industrie waar prestaties, circulariteit en afvalvermindering nu hand in hand gaan.
