Baptisée « Silver Bullet » en raison de sa livrée argentée et rouge, la grue affiche une capacité nominale de 400 tonnes selon la désignation du modèle.
Une précision millimétrique pour un levage hors norme
Pour cette opération, la LTM 1400-6.1 était équipée d’une flèche principale de 55,2 mètres, du système de haubanage Y-guy de Liebherr et de près de 140 tonnes de contrepoids. Ses quatre stabilisateurs étaient entièrement déployés.

Le rayon de levage de 16,8 mètres permettait de conserver environ deux mètres de dégagement entre la plateforme et la cabine. Construite au sol sur un berceau métallique, la structure a été soulevée grâce à un dispositif d’élingage spécifique traversant des ouvertures aménagées dans le plancher et la toiture.

Après son positionnement, la grue a maintenu la plateforme en suspension pendant cinq heures, le temps que huit monteurs métalliques la fixent solidement à la tour.
La planification numérique au service de la sécurité
Avant le chantier, ALL Crane a préparé chaque étape avec le logiciel Liebherr Crane Planner 2.0, compatible avec le système de commande LICCON. Cette simulation a permis de définir la configuration de la grue et de vérifier les conditions de levage.

L’opération illustre l’importance de la coordination entre le grutier, les monteurs et les équipes de construction. Grâce à cette préparation, la nouvelle Liebherr a démontré ses capacités sur un chantier exigeant, où précision, stabilité et maîtrise des charges étaient essentielles.

A spectacular lift nearly 30 meters high! In the United States, ALL Crane Rental of Georgia deployed its new Liebherr LTM 1400-6.1 all-terrain mobile crane to install the observation platform for the new control tower at Auburn University Regional Airport.

Weighing 94,000 pounds, or approximately 42.6 tons, the 10.4-meter diameter and 9.1-meter high structure required meticulous preparation. Dubbed the "Silver Bullet" due to its silver and red livery, the crane has a rated lifting capacity of 400 tons, according to the model designation.

Millimeter precision for an exceptional lift
For this operation, the LTM 1400-6.1 was equipped with a 55.2-meter main boom, Liebherr's Y-guy rigging system, and nearly 140 tons of counterweight. Its four outriggers were fully extended.

The 16.8-meter lifting radius allowed for approximately two meters of clearance between the platform and the cab. Constructed on the ground on a metal cradle, the structure was lifted using a special sling system that passed through openings in the floor and roof.

After positioning, the crane held the platform suspended for five hours while eight metal erectors securely attached it to the tower.

Digital planning for enhanced safety
Before the work began, ALL Crane prepared each step using Liebherr Crane Planner 2.0 software, compatible with the LICCON control system. This simulation allowed us to define the crane's configuration and verify the lifting conditions.

The operation illustrates the importance of coordination between the crane operator, the erectors, and the construction teams. Thanks to this preparation, the new Liebherr demonstrated its capabilities on a demanding construction site, where precision, stability, and load control were essential.
