With the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games approaching, Australia is preparing for a new wave of major infrastructure, urban development, and renewable energy projects. On these construction sites, where cranes play a vital role, machine availability and rapid technical response are becoming critical issues.
It is with this in mind that Manitowoc is accelerating its development on Australia's east coast with the opening of two new locations in Yatala, Queensland, and Melbourne, Victoria.
The objective is clear: to bring the manufacturer's technical teams, spare parts, and expertise closer to its customers, while supporting the growth of the Grove mobile crane and Potain tower crane fleet.
Yatala: A New Hub Ahead of Brisbane 2032
Located in the industrial corridor between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the new Yatala facility is strategically positioned to support Queensland’s future major construction and infrastructure projects.
The facility features four shop bays, a dedicated wash bay, a covered outdoor workspace, and over 2,200 m² of landscaped outdoor space.
This additional capacity will accommodate more machinery, enhance maintenance operations, and improve the availability of Grove and Potain cranes in an area poised for significant construction activity as 2032 approaches.
Melbourne: A Permanent Presence for Victoria
Manitowoc is also continuing its expansion in Victoria with the opening of a new facility in Melbourne’s Western Industrial Estate.
This facility includes three shop bays and approximately 1,400 m² of outdoor space. It houses a local team of technicians specializing in mobile and tower cranes, sales managers, and a spare parts manager.
The network also extends to Tasmania, where dedicated specialists will provide technical support to customers. Manufacturer service closer to the job site
Behind these real estate investments, Manitowoc is pursuing a key strategy for operators: reducing equipment downtime.
Thanks to these new locations, users will benefit from easier access to technicians trained directly by the manufacturer, as well as troubleshooting, repairs, and spare parts.
This proximity also improves technical advice and maintenance planning, two crucial elements for companies whose cranes need to operate with maximum uptime.
The two new centers complement the facilities in Sydney, New South Wales, which recently relocated to much larger premises. A rapidly transforming Australia: a strategic market for Manitowoc
Infrastructure needs, renewable energy projects, and the growth of major urban areas are fueling demand for lifting equipment in the Australian market.
For John Stewart, Vice President of Sales & Support and Managing Director of Manitowoc in Australia, these investments address a growing customer expectation: having an industrial partner capable of combining local expertise with direct access to the manufacturer.
With Yatala and Melbourne, Manitowoc is not simply expanding its network; the group is strengthening its entire technical and commercial support chain.
Looking ahead to Brisbane 2032, this regional presence will be an additional asset in supporting Australian companies and keeping their Grove and Potain cranes operational on the most demanding construction sites.

Melbourne: Een permanente aanwezigheid in Victoria
