AGCO Agility Humanoid Robot IMAGE SOURCE: AGCO

AGCO Bets on Humanoid Robots to Reinvent the Farm Factory of Tomorrow
AGCO Agility Humanoid Robot IMAGE SOURCE: AGCO
In 2027, AGCO will introduce Agility Robotics’ Digit humanoid robot at its Hesston, Kansas, plant. The goal: to automate repetitive and physically demanding tasks, enhance operator safety, and bring artificial intelligence to the heart of industrial production.
In the factories of tomorrow, robots will no longer be just mechanical arms confined behind safety barriers. They will be able to move around workspaces and directly assist teams. This is the new generation of automation that AGCO wants to explore with Agility Robotics.
The agricultural machinery manufacturer has signed a commercial agreement to test Digit, a humanoid robot designed for industrial environments, at its Hesston, Kansas, production facility. The pilot project is scheduled to begin in 2027.
Digit, a new team member on the production line
Sorting parts, stacking and moving storage bins: Digit will handle certain repetitive, demanding, or potentially dangerous operations. By delegating these tasks to the robot, AGCO aims to improve workstation ergonomics and allow employees to focus on tasks requiring greater skills and expertise.
"Humanoid robots and artificial intelligence are essential partners in building more flexible and intelligent factories," emphasizes Thomas Enghof, Director of Manufacturing Technologies at AGCO.
A smarter factory, without major transformation
Combined with artificial intelligence, Digit is designed to adapt to evolving tasks and production flows. The Agility Arc cloud platform enables the deployment and management of robots, while facilitating their integration into existing operations, without requiring significant infrastructure changes.
For AGCO, the challenge goes beyond simple automation: it's about developing a more responsive industrial environment capable of combining human expertise with the precision and endurance of machines.
Agility Robotics already counts companies such as Toyota, GXO, and Schaeffler among its industrial partners.
With this pilot project, AGCO is paving the way for the agricultural machinery industry: that of a factory where humans and humanoid robots work in a complementary fashion. This evolution could gradually redefine workshop organization, workplace safety, and industrial productivity.

AGCO Agility Humanoid Robot IMAGE SOURCE: AGCO
