Le Kazakhstan vient de franchir une nouvelle étape dans sa stratégie de devenir un carrefour eurasiatique incontournable. La Banque asiatique de développement (BAD) a approuvé un prêt souverain de 400 millions de dollars destiné à financer la route de contournement de Saryagash, un projet d’envergure nationale porté par KazAvtoZhol.

Longue de 102 kilomètres, cette nouvelle autoroute vise à désengorger la région de Turkistan, où le trafic transfrontalier intense avec l’Ouzbékistan ralentit les échanges. Le contournement permettra de détourner les poids lourds des zones urbaines, réduisant la congestion, améliorant la qualité de l’air et la sécurité routière, tout en accélérant le transport des marchandises.

Intégrée aux corridors 3 et 6 du programme CAREC, la route deviendra un maillon essentiel du réseau régional, reliant le Kazakhstan aux grands marchés d’Asie de l’Est et d’Europe de l’Ouest. Ce projet renforce non seulement les chaînes logistiques du pays, mais aussi sa position stratégique dans le commerce eurasiatique.

« La route de Saryagash renforcera les liens commerciaux du Kazakhstan et stimulera le développement économique régional », souligne Utsav Kumar, directeur pays de la BAD. Outre la construction, la Banque soutiendra le renforcement institutionnel de KazAvtoZhol, avec un accent sur la sécurité routière, la résilience climatique et la formation inclusive, notamment à destination des femmes.

Depuis son adhésion à la BAD en 1994, le Kazakhstan a bénéficié de plus de 7,5 milliards de dollars en financements. Avec ce nouvel investissement, le pays confirme son ambition : bâtir un réseau routier intelligent, durable et connecté, véritable pilier de la croissance et de l’intégration régionale.

Kazakhstan has just taken another step forward in its strategy to become a key Eurasian hub. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $400 million sovereign loan to finance the Saryagash bypass road, a major national project spearheaded by KazAvtoZhol.

This new 102-kilometer highway aims to alleviate congestion in the Turkistan region, where heavy cross-border traffic with Uzbekistan slows down trade. The bypass will divert heavy trucks away from urban areas, reducing congestion, improving air quality and road safety, while also accelerating the transport of goods.

Integrated into Corridors 3 and 6 of the CAREC program, the road will become a vital link in the regional network, connecting Kazakhstan to major markets in East Asia and Western Europe. This project strengthens not only the country's logistics chains but also its strategic position in Eurasian trade.

"The Saryagash road will strengthen Kazakhstan's trade links and boost regional economic development," said Utsav Kumar, ADB Country Director. In addition to construction, the Bank will support the institutional strengthening of KazAvtoZhol, with a focus on road safety, climate resilience, and inclusive training, particularly for women.

Since joining the ADB in 1994, Kazakhstan has received more than $7.5 billion in financing. With this new investment, the country confirms its ambition: to build a smart, sustainable, and connected road network, a true pillar of growth and regional integration.

Kazachstan heeft zojuist een nieuwe stap gezet in zijn strategie om een ​​belangrijk Euraziatisch knooppunt te worden.
