Ukraine : la bataille des ressources au cœur de la reconstruction européenne

À Bruxelles, dans les couloirs feutrés où se dessinent les grandes orientations du continent, l’avenir industriel de l’Ukraine s’écrit déjà. Lors d’un sommet organisé par European Business Summits et la Commission européenne, décideurs politiques, industriels et institutions financières ont convergé autour d’un objectif commun : reconstruire, mais surtout transformer.

Car au-delà de la reconstruction post-conflit, c’est une véritable refondation économique qui se joue. Routes, voies ferrées, ports — les infrastructures de transport seront les premières bénéficiaires des fonds européens. Un choix stratégique, tant ces artères sont essentielles pour relancer l’activité et reconnecter le pays aux marchés internationaux.

Mais sous la surface, un autre enjeu, tout aussi crucial, émerge : celui des matières premières. L’Ukraine, riche en ressources minérales, aspire à devenir un acteur clé dans la chaîne d’approvisionnement européenne. Dans un contexte où l’Europe cherche à sécuriser ses approvisionnements, notamment face à la dépendance technologique vis-à-vis de la Chine, le potentiel ukrainien attire toutes les attentions.

De grands groupes comme NEQSOL HOLDING ou BGV Group Management multiplient les appels à partenariats avec des acteurs européens. Leur ambition : moderniser les opérations existantes et développer de nouveaux projets capables de répondre aux objectifs du Critical Raw Materials Act.

Dans cette dynamique, les membres du CECE jouent un rôle clé. Parmi eux, Metso s’illustre déjà sur le terrain. Lors d’un panel consacré aux matières premières critiques, Timo Sarvijärvi a mis en lumière les initiatives en cours, notamment le développement d’un projet de mine de graphite dans le gisement de Balakhivka, en collaboration avec BGV.

Ce mouvement s’inscrit dans une vision plus large : celle d’une Europe qui investit, sécurise et construit sur le long terme. L’Ukraine, de son côté, entend réduire sa dépendance aux technologies importées et s’appuyer sur l’expertise européenne pour rebâtir une industrie plus résiliente, plus moderne, et pleinement intégrée au marché continental.

Entre reconstruction et stratégie géoéconomique, une évidence s’impose : les fondations de demain ne se limiteront pas au béton et à l’acier. Elles se joueront aussi sous terre, là où se trouvent les ressources capables de redessiner l’équilibre industriel de toute une région.

Ukraine: The Battle for Resources at the Heart of European Reconstruction

In Brussels, in the hushed corridors where the continent's major policy directions are being shaped, Ukraine's industrial future is already being written. At a summit organized by European Business Summits and the European Commission, political decision-makers, industrialists, and financial institutions converged around a common goal: to rebuild, but above all, to transform.

Because beyond post-conflict reconstruction, a true economic overhaul is underway. Roads, railways, ports—transport infrastructure will be the first beneficiaries of European funds. A strategic choice, given how essential these arteries are for reviving economic activity and reconnecting the country to international markets.

But beneath the surface, another equally crucial issue is emerging: that of raw materials. Ukraine, rich in mineral resources, aspires to become a key player in the European supply chain. In a context where Europe is seeking to secure its supplies, particularly in the face of its technological dependence on China, Ukraine's potential is attracting considerable attention.

Major groups like NEQSOL HOLDING and BGV Group Management are increasingly seeking partnerships with European players. Their ambition: to modernize existing operations and develop new projects capable of meeting the objectives of the Critical Raw Materials Act.

In this dynamic, CECE members play a key role. Among them, Metso is already making its mark on the ground. During a panel dedicated to critical raw materials, Timo Sarvijärvi highlighted ongoing initiatives, notably the development of a graphite mine project in the Balakhivka deposit, in collaboration with BGV.

This movement is part of a broader vision: that of a Europe that invests, secures, and builds for the long term. Ukraine, for its part, intends to reduce its dependence on imported technologies and leverage European expertise to rebuild a more resilient, modern industry, fully integrated into the continental market.

Between reconstruction and geoeconomic strategy, one thing is clear: the foundations of tomorrow will not be limited to concrete and steel. They will also be built underground, where the resources capable of reshaping the industrial balance of an entire region are located.

Oekraïne: De strijd om grondstoffen in het hart van de Europese wederopbouw

In Brussel, in de stille wandelgangen waar de belangrijkste beleidsrichtingen van het continent worden bepaald, wordt de industriële toekomst van Oekraïne al geschreven. Tijdens een top georganiseerd door European Business Summits en de Europese Commissie kwamen politieke besluitvormers, industriëlen en financiële instellingen samen rond een gemeenschappelijk doel: wederopbouw, maar bovenal transformatie.

Want naast de wederopbouw na het conflict is er een ware economische omwenteling gaande. Wegen, spoorwegen, havens – de transportinfrastructuur – zullen als eerste profiteren van Europese fondsen. Een strategische keuze, gezien het essentiële belang van deze slagaders voor het herstel van de economische activiteit en de herverbinding van het land met internationale markten.

Maar onder de oppervlakte komt een andere, even cruciale kwestie naar voren: die van de grondstoffen. Oekraïne, rijk aan minerale grondstoffen, streeft ernaar een belangrijke speler te worden in de Europese toeleveringsketen. In een context waarin Europa zijn leveringszekerheid probeert te waarborgen, met name gezien de technologische afhankelijkheid van China, trekt het potentieel van Oekraïne aanzienlijke aandacht.

Grote concerns zoals NEQSOL HOLDING en BGV Group Management zoeken steeds vaker partnerschappen met Europese partijen. Hun ambitie: bestaande activiteiten moderniseren en nieuwe projecten ontwikkelen die voldoen aan de doelstellingen van de Critical Raw Materials Act.

In deze dynamiek spelen CECE-leden een sleutelrol. Metso laat bijvoorbeeld al van zich horen. Tijdens een paneldiscussie over kritieke grondstoffen benadrukte Timo Sarvijärvi de lopende initiatieven, met name de ontwikkeling van een grafietmijnproject in de Balakhivka-afzetting, in samenwerking met BGV.

Deze ontwikkeling maakt deel uit van een bredere visie: een Europa dat investeert, veiligstelt en bouwt voor de lange termijn. Oekraïne wil op zijn beurt de afhankelijkheid van geïmporteerde technologieën verminderen en Europese expertise benutten om een ​​veerkrachtigere, modernere industrie op te bouwen die volledig geïntegreerd is in de continentale markt.

Eén ding is duidelijk tussen wederopbouw en geo-economische strategie: de fundamenten van de toekomst zullen niet beperkt blijven tot beton en staal. Ze zullen ook ondergronds worden gebouwd, waar de grondstoffen zich bevinden die het industriële evenwicht van een hele regio kunnen veranderen.
