Epiroc, Genesis Attachments et la société japonaise de location Kanamoto ont annoncé leur adhésion à l’Open-S Alliance, renforçant ainsi une dynamique qui transforme progressivement le secteur des équipements pour excavatrices.

Lancée en 2020 par Rototilt et Steelwrist, l’initiative Open-S repose sur un standard commun pour les attaches rapides entièrement automatiques. Grâce à cette norme, les excavatrices peuvent utiliser des outils de différentes marques dès lors qu’ils respectent le même langage technique. En seulement quelques années, Open-S est devenue une référence, rassemblant désormais 23 membres à travers le monde, dont neuf nouveaux venus rien qu’en cette année.

Pour Epiroc, fabricant mondial d’outils et d’accessoires pour excavatrices, rejoindre l’alliance s’inscrit dans une volonté claire : contribuer à une industrie plus ouverte, plus durable et plus efficace. Sa filiale ACB+, acquise récemment, rejoint également l’initiative en tant que membre associé.
« En intégrant l’Open-S Alliance, nous réaffirmons notre engagement pour des solutions compatibles et ouvertes, qui laissent aux clients une totale liberté de choix. Ce standard partagé n’est pas seulement une question de technologie, il s’agit de construire une industrie plus connectée et plus durable », souligne Predrag Petrovic, Vice-président de la division Hydraulic Attachment Tools chez Epiroc.

De son côté, Genesis Attachments, entreprise américaine réputée pour ses cisailles hydrauliques, grappins, broyeurs à béton et outils spécialisés, voit dans Open-S un moyen de garantir l’intégration harmonieuse de ses produits sur le terrain.
« Les standards Open-S sont un socle essentiel pour défendre les intérêts des propriétaires et des opérateurs. Les informations partagées au sein de l’alliance nous permettront de continuer à développer des solutions avancées qui s’intègrent parfaitement aux équipements complémentaires », déclare Roger Johnson, directeur de l’ingénierie.

Kanamoto, pour sa part, devient le deuxième membre japonais de l’initiative après Nishio Rent All, arrivé en août. En tant que membre soutien, l’entreprise entend promouvoir activement l’adoption des outils compatibles avec le standard Open-S au Japon, en Asie du Sud-Est et en Océanie, dans le cadre de son activité de location d’équipements de construction.
« En tenant compte des retours du terrain, Kanamoto continuera à collaborer avec les autres membres de l’alliance pour développer des accessoires innovants qui améliorent la productivité et la sécurité sur les chantiers », affirme Jun Watanabe, membre du conseil d’administration et directeur de la division location d’équipements.

Stefan Stockhaus, président du conseil de l’Open-S Alliance, a salué l’arrivée des trois entreprises, soulignant que leur participation marque une nouvelle étape dans l’expansion de l’initiative.
« Ces nouveaux membres renforcent l’élan autour d’Open-S et soulignent l’importance de l’interopérabilité et du choix pour les clients », a-t-il conclu.

Epiroc, Genesis Attachments, and the Japanese rental company Kanamoto have announced their membership in the Open-S Alliance, reinforcing a dynamic that is gradually transforming the excavator attachment sector.

Launched in 2020 by Rototilt and Steelwrist, the Open-S initiative is based on a common standard for fully automatic quick couplers. Thanks to this standard, excavators can use attachments from different brands as long as they adhere to the same technical specifications. In just a few years, Open-S has become a benchmark, now bringing together 23 members worldwide, including nine new members this year alone.

For Epiroc, a global manufacturer of excavator attachments and tools, joining the alliance reflects a clear commitment to contributing to a more open, sustainable, and efficient industry. Its recently acquired subsidiary, ACB+, is also joining the initiative as an associate member. “By joining the Open-S Alliance, we are reaffirming our commitment to compatible and open solutions that give customers complete freedom of choice. This shared standard is not just about technology; it’s about building a more connected and sustainable industry,” emphasizes Predrag Petrovic, Vice President of the Hydraulic Attachment Tools division at Epiroc.

For its part, Genesis Attachments, an American company renowned for its hydraulic shears, grapples, concrete crushers, and specialized tools, sees Open-S as a way to ensure the seamless integration of its products in the field.

“Open-S standards are an essential foundation for advocating for the interests of owners and operators. The information shared within the alliance will allow us to continue developing advanced solutions that integrate perfectly with complementary equipment,” says Roger Johnson, Director of Engineering.

Kanamoto, meanwhile, becomes the second Japanese member of the initiative after Nishio Rent All, which joined in August. As a supporting member, the company intends to actively promote the adoption of Open-S compatible tools in Japan, Southeast Asia, and Oceania as part of its construction equipment rental business.

“Based on feedback from the field, Kanamoto will continue to collaborate with other alliance members to develop innovative attachments that improve productivity and safety on construction sites,” said Jun Watanabe, board member and head of the equipment rental division.

Stefan Stockhaus, chairman of the Open-S Alliance board, welcomed the three companies, noting that their participation marks a new stage in the initiative’s expansion.

“These new members strengthen the momentum around Open-S and underscore the importance of interoperability and choice for customers,” he concluded.
