En Inde, l’un des projets d’infrastructure les plus ambitieux du moment prend forme sur le corridor autoroutier Mumbai–Pune. Au centre de ce chantier d’envergure : le futur pont à haubans de Lonavala, élément clé du programme « Missing Link », destiné à fluidifier le trafic sur l’une des autoroutes les plus fréquentées du pays. Pour mener à bien cette réalisation spectaculaire, quatre grues à tour Potain MCT 385 jouent un rôle décisif.

Installées depuis 2022 sur le chantier, ces grues de 20 tonnes assurent la construction des quatre pylônes principaux du pont. Configurées avec des flèches de 50 mètres et des hauteurs sous crochet comprises entre 175 et 190 mètres, elles interviennent dans des opérations complexes allant du levage de composants structurels à la pose des gaines de haubans, en passant par le coulage de béton à grande hauteur.

Le projet est piloté par Afcons Infrastructure, l’un des grands acteurs indiens du BTP, qui a choisi les Potain MCT 385 pour leur précision, leur robustesse et leur capacité à évoluer dans des conditions de chantier particulièrement exigeantes. Selon les responsables du projet, les grues affichent un taux de disponibilité remarquable de 98 %, grâce notamment au support technique permanent et à la disponibilité continue des pièces assurés par Manitowoc.

Au-delà de la performance technique, ce chantier illustre l’importance stratégique des équipements de levage dans les mégaprojets d’infrastructure modernes. Les grues Potain sont épaulées sur site par des grues sur chenilles Manitowoc et des grues mobiles Grove, créant une flotte complète capable de répondre aux multiples défis du chantier.

Le pont de Lonavala représente un symbole fort de la modernisation des infrastructures indiennes. Avec ce projet, le groupe Manitowoc confirme également la place de ses technologies de levage sur les grands chantiers internationaux. La célèbre MCT 385 poursuit ainsi sa carrière avec une nouvelle évolution dédiée au marché asiatique : la MCT 385A L20, version modernisée intégrant plusieurs améliorations techniques.

At the heart of this large-scale project is the future Lonavala cable-stayed bridge, a key element of the "Missing Link" program, designed to ease traffic congestion on one of the country's busiest highways. Four Potain MCT 385 tower cranes are playing a crucial role in carrying out this spectacular project.

Installed on the site since 2022, these 20-ton cranes are constructing the bridge's four main pylons. Configured with 50-meter jibs and hook heights between 175 and 190 meters, they are involved in complex operations ranging from lifting structural components and installing cable ducts to pouring concrete at great heights.

The project is being led by Afcons Infrastructure, one of India's major construction companies, which selected the Potain MCT 385 cranes for their precision, robustness, and ability to operate in particularly demanding construction site conditions. According to project managers, the cranes boast a remarkable 98% uptime, thanks in particular to the ongoing technical support and continuous parts availability provided by Manitowoc.

Beyond technical performance, this project illustrates the strategic importance of lifting equipment in modern infrastructure megaprojects. The Potain cranes are supported on-site by Manitowoc crawler cranes and Grove mobile cranes, creating a comprehensive fleet capable of meeting the site's diverse challenges.

The Lonavala Bridge represents a powerful symbol of the modernization of Indian infrastructure. With this project, the Manitowoc Group also confirms the prominence of its lifting technologies on major international construction sites. The renowned MCT 385 continues its career with a new evolution dedicated to the Asian market: the MCT 385A L20, a modernized version incorporating several technical improvements.
