Metso poursuit sa stratégie de proximité avec les acteurs de l’industrie minière en inaugurant un nouveau Service and Training Center à Mesa, dans l’État de l’Arizona. Fruit d’un investissement de 17 millions d’euros, cette installation combine pour la première fois un centre de services de niveau OEM et un centre de formation entièrement dédié aux métiers de la maintenance et de l’exploitation minière.

Implanté au cœur de l’une des régions minières les plus dynamiques des États-Unis, ce nouveau complexe vise à renforcer l’accompagnement des producteurs de cuivre et d’or du Sud-Ouest américain, tout en améliorant la disponibilité des équipements, la sécurité des opérations et le développement des compétences techniques.

Un investissement stratégique au plus près des opérations minières

Avec plus de 1 900 m² d’espaces dédiés aux activités de service et de formation, le site de Mesa représente une étape importante dans le développement du réseau de support de Metso en Amérique du Nord.

L’extension du centre de services a permis d’augmenter sa surface de 60 %, offrant désormais des capacités accrues pour répondre aux besoins des exploitants miniers de la région. Plus de 100 collaborateurs y sont aujourd’hui mobilisés pour assurer les activités commerciales, les services après-vente et les programmes de formation.

« Le Sud-Ouest des États-Unis constitue un véritable pôle mondial pour la production de cuivre et d’or. Dans ce contexte, disposer de capacités de service locales et réactives est devenu essentiel pour garantir la continuité des opérations », souligne Martin Karlsson, Vice-Président Sales & Service USA chez Metso.

Un support complet sur l’ensemble du cycle de vie des équipements

Le nouveau centre de Mesa est conçu pour accompagner les clients à chaque étape du cycle de vie de leurs équipements. Les prestations proposées couvrent aussi bien les inspections préventives et les diagnostics techniques que les opérations de reconstruction complète de composants et les assemblages mécaniques.

Grâce à ses infrastructures adaptées aux équipements lourds et à l’expertise de ses techniciens, le site est en mesure de prendre en charge les principaux composants utilisés dans les exploitations minières tout en garantissant des interventions conformes aux standards du constructeur.

Cette proximité avec les sites d’exploitation permet également de réduire les délais d’intervention et d’offrir un accès plus rapide à l’expertise technique du fabricant.

La formation au cœur de la performance opérationnelle

Au-delà de ses capacités de maintenance, le site de Mesa se distingue par l’intégration du premier centre mondial de formation Metso entièrement équipé et directement connecté à un centre de services opérationnel.

Pensé comme un environnement d’apprentissage immersif, le centre combine enseignement théorique, outils numériques, simulateurs et formations pratiques réalisées sur des équipements et composants réels.

Cette approche permet aux opérateurs, techniciens et responsables de maintenance de développer leurs compétences dans des conditions proches de celles rencontrées sur le terrain.

Selon Nichole Pritchard, Directrice Commercial & Sales Enablement au sein de Metso Academy, cette nouvelle infrastructure offre aux clients « un accès à des formations pratiques basées sur les compétences, dans un environnement industriel réel, afin d’améliorer la sécurité, l’efficacité et la fiabilité des opérations ».

Une stratégie d’investissement à l’échelle du continent américain

L’ouverture du centre de Mesa s’inscrit dans un programme plus large d’investissements réalisés par Metso en Amérique du Nord et en Amérique latine afin de renforcer sa présence locale et son soutien aux exploitants miniers.

Parmi les projets récents figurent notamment l’ouverture d’un hub technologique à Pittsburgh, en Pennsylvanie, destiné aux solutions de manutention des matériaux en vrac, ainsi que la création d’un Dewatering Development Hub à Irapuato, au Mexique, spécialisé dans les composants critiques pour les équipements de déshydratation.

Metso prévoit également l’inauguration prochaine d’un nouveau centre de services à Prince George, en Colombie-Britannique, au Canada, afin de répondre à la croissance soutenue des activités minières liées à la demande mondiale en cuivre et en métaux stratégiques.

Metso continues its strategy of building closer relationships with mining industry stakeholders by opening a new Service and Training Center in Mesa, Arizona. The result of a €17 million investment, this facility combines, for the first time, an OEM-level service center and a training center entirely dedicated to maintenance and mining operations.

Located in the heart of one of the most dynamic mining regions in the United States, this new complex aims to strengthen support for copper and gold producers in the American Southwest, while improving equipment availability, operational safety, and technical skills development.

A Strategic Investment Close to Mining Operations

With over 1,900 square meters of space dedicated to service and training activities, the Mesa site represents a significant step in the development of Metso's support network in North America.

The service center expansion has increased its size by 60%, providing enhanced capacity to meet the needs of mining operators in the region. More than 100 employees are now working there to support sales activities, after-sales service, and training programs.

“The Southwestern United States is a true global hub for copper and gold production. In this context, having local and responsive service capabilities has become essential to ensuring business continuity,” emphasizes Martin Karlsson, Vice President of Sales & Service USA at Metso.

Comprehensive support throughout the entire equipment lifecycle

The new Mesa center is designed to support customers at every stage of their equipment's lifecycle. Services offered range from preventative inspections and technical diagnostics to complete component rebuilds and mechanical assemblies.

Thanks to its infrastructure adapted for heavy equipment and the expertise of its technicians, the site is able to service the main components used in mining operations while ensuring interventions comply with the manufacturer's standards.

This proximity to mining sites also reduces response times and provides faster access to the manufacturer's technical expertise.

Training at the heart of operational performance

Beyond its maintenance capabilities, the Mesa site stands out for its integration of Metso's first fully equipped global training center, directly connected to an operational service center.

Designed as an immersive learning environment, the center combines theoretical instruction, digital tools, simulators, and hands-on training on real equipment and components.

This approach allows operators, technicians, and maintenance managers to develop their skills in conditions similar to those encountered in the field.

According to Nichole Pritchard, Director of Commercial & Sales Enablement at Metso Academy, this new facility offers customers “access to hands-on, skills-based training in a real-world industrial environment to improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of operations.”

A continent-wide investment strategy

The opening of the Mesa center is part of a broader investment program by Metso in North and Latin America to strengthen its local presence and support for mining companies.

Recent projects include the opening of a technology hub in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, dedicated to bulk material handling solutions, and the creation of a Dewatering Development Hub in Irapuato, Mexico, specializing in critical components for dewatering equipment.

Metso also plans to open a new service center in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, to meet the sustained growth in mining activities driven by global demand for copper and strategic metals.
