Sous la lueur argentée de la lune bavaroise, le château de Neuschwanstein se dresse, majestueux, sur son éperon rocheux. Dans son ombre, le murmure des machines remplace pour quelques nuits celui des touristes : la société Geiger Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG s’affaire à la réfection de la Kutschenstraße, la route d’accès sinueuse empruntée chaque jour par les calèches tirées par des chevaux.

Afin de ne pas perturber les 1,4 million de visiteurs annuels de ce joyau du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, les travaux ont été exclusivement réalisés de nuit. Pour ce chantier délicat, le choix s’est naturellement porté sur un partenaire de confiance : le Vögele SUPER 1800-5 X, un finisseur de la classe Universal, spécialement conçu pour les conditions extrêmes.

Une route mythique, un défi technique

Cette montée abrupte de 1,3 kilomètre, réservée aux véhicules de service et aux calèches, subit chaque jour l’usure des sabots ferrés et des intempéries de montagne. Le revêtement devait donc être entièrement renouvelé – une mission complexe sur une pente raide, dans l’obscurité, avec un espace de manœuvre limité.

La puissance de 129 kW et la traction exceptionnelle du SUPER 1800-5 X ont permis de relever le défi. Le chantier a débuté par le fraisage de 7 000 m² d’ancien enrobé à l’aide d’une fraiseuse Wirtgen W 100 CFi, avant la pose d’environ 800 tonnes de nouveau revêtement sur trois nuits, avec une largeur variant entre 5 et 6 mètres et une épaisseur moyenne de 4 cm.

La précision du SmartWheel : la main sûre dans les virages

Sur la route étroite et sinueuse menant au château, la maîtrise du pilotage était essentielle. Le système SmartWheel, intégré à la console ErgoPlus 5, a permis un contrôle d’une précision remarquable, même dans les courbes les plus serrées. Grâce à sa commande rotative intuitive, les opérateurs ont pu ajuster la direction au millimètre près, garantissant une surface uniforme et parfaitement lissée.

Une lumière dans la nuit : le « Light Package Plus »

Pour transformer la nuit en jour, le SUPER 1800-5 X s’est appuyé sur son Light Package Plus, un ensemble d’éclairages puissants intégrés directement à la machine : LED haute intensité sur les vérins de nivellement, projecteurs orientables et rampe lumineuse intégrée dans le toit de protection.
Résultat : une illumination homogène sur 10 mètres de largeur et jusqu’à 4 mètres derrière la table d’étalement, sans qu’aucun équipement d’éclairage externe ne soit nécessaire.

« Nous avons gagné un temps précieux sur la préparation du chantier, tout en assurant une sécurité maximale pour l’équipe », explique Stefan Keller, chef de chantier principal chez Geiger.
« La lumière est parfaitement dirigée sur les zones de travail importantes. Même en pleine nuit, tout reste visible et fluide. »

Une mise en route simplifiée, un travail plus sûr

Grâce à la fonction Paver Access Control (PAC), l’équipe a pu activer les principales fonctions du finisseur depuis le sol : mise en marche du moteur, démarrage du système de commande, déploiement du toit, activation de l’éclairage – tout cela d’une simple pression sur un bouton. En fin de nuit, la machine a été ramenée en position de transport avec la même simplicité.

Silence et perfection au petit matin

La table d’étalement AB 600 de dernière génération a permis d’obtenir une pré-compaction élevée et une structure de surface homogène, grâce à un système de chauffage optimisé et à des éléments en contact constant avec le matériau.
Les améliorations structurelles du modèle ont également rendu le fonctionnement nettement plus silencieux, un atout essentiel pour un chantier nocturne à proximité d’un site historique.

Combinée au concept d’entraînement à faible bruit du SUPER 1800-5 X, cette technologie a permis de travailler en toute discrétion, respectant la quiétude des montagnes bavaroises et la majesté du château endormi.

Quand la technologie rencontre le patrimoine

Dans ce décor de carte postale, le pavage nocturne de la route du château de Neuschwanstein illustre parfaitement la mission de Vögele : concilier performance, précision et respect de l’environnement.

Under the silvery glow of the Bavarian moon, Neuschwanstein Castle stands majestically on its rocky outcrop. In its shadow, the hum of machinery replaces the murmur of tourists for a few nights: Geiger Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG is busy resurfacing the Kutschenstraße, the winding access road used daily by horse-drawn carriages.

In order not to disrupt the 1.4 million annual visitors to this UNESCO World Heritage site, the work was carried out exclusively at night. For this delicate project, the choice naturally fell on a trusted partner: the Vögele SUPER 1800-5 X, a paver from the Universal class, specially designed for extreme conditions.

A Legendary Road, a Technical Challenge

This steep 1.3-kilometer climb, reserved for service vehicles and carriages, is subjected daily to the wear and tear of horseshoes and harsh mountain weather. The road surface therefore had to be completely renewed – a complex task on a steep slope, in the dark, with limited maneuvering space.

The 129 kW power and exceptional traction of the SUPER 1800-5 X made it possible to meet the challenge. The project began with the milling of 7,000 m² of old asphalt using a Wirtgen W 100 CFi milling machine, before laying approximately 800 tons of new pavement over three nights, with a width varying between 5 and 6 meters and an average thickness of 4 cm.

The Precision of SmartWheel: A Steady Hand in the Curves

On the narrow and winding road leading to the castle, precise steering control was essential. The SmartWheel system, integrated into the ErgoPlus 5 console, allowed for remarkably precise control, even in the tightest curves. Thanks to its intuitive rotary control, operators were able to adjust the steering to the millimeter, guaranteeing a uniform and perfectly smooth surface.

A light in the night: the “Light Package Plus”

To turn night into day, the SUPER 1800-5 X relied on its Light Package Plus, a set of powerful lights integrated directly into the machine: high-intensity LEDs on the leveling cylinders, adjustable spotlights, and a light bar integrated into the protective roof.
The result: homogeneous illumination over a width of 10 meters and up to 4 meters behind the screed, without the need for any external lighting equipment.

“We saved valuable time on site preparation while ensuring maximum safety for the team,” explains Stefan Keller, lead site manager at Geiger.
“The light is perfectly directed onto the important work areas. Even in the middle of the night, everything remains visible and smooth.”

Simplified start-up, safer work

Thanks to the Paver Access Control (PAC) function, the team was able to activate the main functions of the paver from the ground: engine start, control system activation, roof deployment, lighting activation – all with a simple press of a button. At the end of the night, the machine was returned to the transport position with the same ease.

Silence and perfection in the early morning

The latest generation AB 600 screed allowed for high pre-compaction and a homogeneous surface structure, thanks to an optimized heating system and elements in constant contact with the material.
The structural improvements of the model also made operation significantly quieter, an essential advantage for a night construction site near a historical site. Combined with the low-noise drive concept of the SUPER 1800-5 X, this technology allowed for discreet operation, respecting the tranquility of the Bavarian mountains and the majesty of the slumbering castle.

Where Technology Meets Heritage

Onder het zilveren schijnsel van de Beierse maan staat kasteel Neuschwanstein majestueus op zijn rotspunt. Het vermogen van 129 kW en de uitzonderlijke tractie van de SUPER 1800-5 X maakten het mogelijk om de uitdaging aan te gaan. Het project begon met het frezen van 7.000 m² oud asfalt met een Wirtgen W 100 CFi freesmachine, waarna in drie nachten ongeveer 800 ton nieuw asfalt werd aangebracht, met een breedte variërend van 5 tot 6 meter en een gemiddelde dikte van 4 cm.

SmartWheel-precisie: een zekere hand in bochten

Op de smalle, bochtige weg naar het kasteel was stuurbeheersing essentieel. Het SmartWheel-systeem, geïntegreerd in de ErgoPlus 5-console, zorgde voor een opmerkelijk nauwkeurige besturing, zelfs in de scherpste bochten. Dankzij de intuïtieve draaiknop konden machinisten de besturing tot op de millimeter nauwkeurig aanpassen, wat zorgde voor een gelijkmatig en perfect glad oppervlak.

Een lichtpuntje in de nacht: het "Light Package Plus"

Om de nacht in dag te veranderen, vertrouwde de SUPER 1800-5 X op het Light Package Plus, een krachtig verlichtingspakket dat direct in de machine was geïntegreerd: krachtige leds op de nivelleercilinders, verstelbare schijnwerpers en een lichtbalk geïntegreerd in het beschermdak.
Het resultaat: een gelijkmatige verlichting over een breedte van 10 meter en tot 4 meter achter de strooibalk, zonder dat er externe verlichting nodig was.

"We bespaarden kostbare tijd met de voorbereiding van de bouwplaats en zorgden tegelijkertijd voor maximale veiligheid voor het team", legt Stefan Keller, Senior Site Manager bij Geiger, uit.
"Het licht is perfect gericht op de belangrijkste werkgebieden. Zelfs midden in de nacht blijft alles zichtbaar en verloopt het soepel." »

Vereenvoudigde opstart, veiliger werken

Dankzij de Paver Access Control (PAC)-functie kon het team de belangrijkste functies van de asfalteermachine vanaf de grond activeren: de motor starten, het besturingssysteem starten, de kap uitklappen en de verlichting activeren – allemaal met één druk op de knop. Aan het einde van de nacht werd de machine met hetzelfde gemak teruggebracht naar de transportpositie.

Stilte en perfectie in de vroege ochtend

De nieuwste generatie AB 600-balken bereikte een hoge voorverdichting en een homogene oppervlaktestructuur dankzij een geoptimaliseerd verwarmingssysteem en elementen die constant in contact staan ​​met het materiaal.
De structurele verbeteringen van het model zorgden er ook voor dat de machine aanzienlijk stiller werkte, een belangrijk voordeel voor een nachtelijke bouwplaats in de buurt van een historische locatie.

In combinatie met het geluidsarme aandrijfconcept van de SUPER 1800-5 X maakte deze technologie het mogelijk om discreet te werken, met respect voor de rust van de Beierse bergen en de majestueuze pracht van het slapende kasteel.
