More than 20 mobile power units, up to 1 MW of available power, and entire nights of maintenance: HIMOINSA ensured the power supply for the Rally of Morocco in the extreme desert conditions. A full-scale demonstration of the complementary nature of generators, batteries, and autonomous lighting.
When the desert becomes an open-air construction site
At the Rally of Morocco, when the engines of the competition vehicles fall silent, another race begins. In the bivouacs set up in the heart of the Sahara, mechanics, technical teams, and organizers work late into the night to prepare for the next stage. Some trucks require several hours of maintenance, sometimes until dawn.
Without an electrical grid, no interruption is possible. To meet this challenge, HIMOINSA, the event's official energy supplier, deployed more than 20 pieces of equipment at the Agadir and Zagora sites, combining mobile generators, battery storage systems, and LED lighting towers.
Diesel and batteries: the perfect blend of efficiency
At the heart of the system, a hybrid architecture combines the power of the generators with the responsiveness of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. The generators ensure continuous power and reserve capacity, while the batteries absorb load variations and provide energy when demand decreases.
This complementary approach reduces engine operating hours, fuel consumption, noise, and maintenance requirements. The installation provided up to 1 MW of power, essential for the operation of this veritable temporary village.
The reliability of the generators also relies on the long-standing collaboration between HIMOINSA and FPT Industrial, whose engines are designed to meet the demands of intensive applications.
When night falls, the work continues
H-COMPACT+ LED lighting towers play a vital role in team safety. They allow mechanics to inspect, repair, and prepare vehicles in optimal visibility conditions, even after several hours of nighttime work.
Transportable and designed for demanding environments, these units exemplify the importance of autonomous solutions capable of operating in dust, heat, and isolation.
Technology beyond rallying
The experience of the Rallye du Maroc demonstrates the value of mobile and hybrid energy systems for remote construction sites, mining operations, temporary events, and critical infrastructure.
In the Sahara, performance is measured not only by vehicle speed but also by the ability to maintain operational services. With its hybrid solutions and on-the-ground technical support, HIMOINSA has helped meet this challenge: providing the necessary power wherever the grid fails.

HIMOINSA BIJ DE RALLY VAN MAROKKO: IN DE SAHARA STOPT DE STROOM NOOIT

No grid. No downtime – no room for failure
