SAKAI SV544-1 — La force tranquille d’une machine qui évolue

Il y a des machines que l’on réinvente. Et puis il y a celles que l’on perfectionne, sans jamais trahir ce qui a fait leur réputation.

Avec le SV544-1, Sakai America choisit la seconde voie. La nouvelle version de son compacteur de sol vibrant à tambour unique de 2,1 mètres commence à rejoindre le réseau de concessionnaires nord-américains, avec une ambition simple : offrir davantage de force utile, tout en consommant moins.

Le SV544 est depuis longtemps le modèle phare de Sakai. Sa réputation s’est construite sur trois piliers : fiabilité, simplicité et endurance. Le SV544-1 ne cherche donc pas à bouleverser la recette. Il lui donne simplement davantage de souffle.

Plus de puissance, au moment où elle compte

Sous son capot apparaît le nouveau Cummins F3.8 Performance Series, désormais capable de délivrer 148 ch, contre 130 ch auparavant.

Le gain atteint 14 % en puissance maximale, mais c’est surtout le couple qui change le caractère de la machine : il grimpe de 360 à 443 lb-pi, soit 23 % de plus, disponible 100 tr/min plus tôt.

Sur un chantier, ces chiffres prennent une autre dimension. Dans une montée, sous forte charge ou lorsque le terrain se durcit, la puissance arrive plus rapidement et la machine conserve davantage de répondant.

Et Sakai n’a pas choisi la puissance au détriment de l’économie. La consommation de carburant baisse d’environ 8 %, tandis qu’un mode Eco permet de pousser encore plus loin les économies.

Le nouveau groupe motopropulseur réduit également le niveau sonore et les émissions de CO₂ de 8,2 %, grâce notamment au système éprouvé Cummins Single Module.

Une évolution sans complication

Sakai a également revu l’intégration électronique de la machine avec un faisceau ECM simplifié et plusieurs optimisations de conception.

Mais ici encore, le constructeur refuse la complexité gratuite.

Pas d’écran tactile sophistiqué susceptible de devenir le maillon faible de la machine. Le SV544-1 conserve ses commandes analogiques simples et directes, pensées pour être comprises immédiatement par l’opérateur.

Traction control sélectionnable, articulation centrale renforcée et isolateurs longue durée complètent l’ensemble, ces derniers étant conçus pour atteindre jusqu’à 5 000 heures de fonctionnement.

Une machine américaine, une philosophie japonaise

Derrière cette évolution mécanique se trouve aussi une histoire industrielle.

Le SV544-1 est entièrement assemblé dans l’usine Sakai de Géorgie, aux États-Unis. Un choix particulièrement symbolique alors que Sakai America se prépare à célébrer 50 ans de présence en Amérique du Nord et 25 ans de fabrication locale à Adairsville.

« Nous continuons à associer l’ingénierie japonaise légendaire à une fabrication et un support fiables aux États-Unis », résume Wes Shepherd, vice-président des opérations de Sakai America.

Le message est clair : certaines choses doivent évoluer. D’autres doivent rester.

Avec des poids opérationnels à partir de 11 070 kg et une capacité en pente pouvant atteindre 63 %, le SV544-1 conserve ainsi l’ADN du modèle qui a fait le succès de Sakai, tout en apportant davantage de puissance et d’efficience.

La nouvelle génération est déjà en route vers les concessionnaires agréés.

Une machine familière, mais plus forte. Plus sobre. Plus réactive. Une évolution sans révolution — exactement comme Sakai sait les concevoir.

There are machines that are reinvented. And then there are those that are perfected, without ever betraying what made their reputation.

With the SV544-1, Sakai America chooses the latter. The new version of its 2.1-meter single-drum vibratory soil compactor is beginning to arrive in the North American dealer network, with a simple ambition: to offer more useful power while consuming less fuel.

The SV544 has long been Sakai's flagship model. Its reputation has been built on three pillars: reliability, simplicity, and endurance. The SV544-1 doesn't seek to revolutionize the formula. It simply gives it more power.

More Power, When It Matters

Under the hood is the new Cummins F3.8 Performance Series engine, now capable of delivering 148 hp, up from 130 hp.

The increase is 14% in maximum power, but it's the torque that truly transforms the machine: it jumps from 360 to 443 lb-ft, a 23% increase, available 100 rpm earlier.

On a job site, these figures take on a whole new dimension. On an incline, under heavy load, or when the terrain becomes rough, the power arrives more quickly, and the machine remains more responsive.

And Sakai hasn't sacrificed power for fuel economy. Fuel consumption is reduced by approximately 8%, while an Eco mode allows for even greater savings.

The new powertrain also reduces noise levels and CO₂ emissions by 8.2%, thanks in particular to the proven Cummins Single Module system.

A Simple Evolution

Sakai has also revised the machine's electronic integration with a simplified ECM harness and several design optimizations.

But here again, the manufacturer rejects unnecessary complexity.

There's no sophisticated touchscreen that could become the machine's weak point. The SV544-1 retains its simple and direct analog controls, designed for immediate operator understanding.

Selectable traction control, a reinforced central articulation, and long-life insulators complete the package, the latter designed to last up to 5,000 hours.

An American Machine, a Japanese Philosophy

Behind this mechanical evolution lies an industrial history.

The SV544-1 is entirely assembled at Sakai's factory in Georgia, USA. This is a particularly symbolic choice as Sakai America prepares to celebrate 50 years of presence in North America and 25 years of local manufacturing in Adairsville.

“We continue to combine legendary Japanese engineering with reliable manufacturing and support in the United States,” summarizes Wes Shepherd, Vice President of Operations for Sakai America.

The message is clear: some things must evolve. Others must stay the same.

With operating weights starting at 11,070 kg and a gradeability of up to 63%, the SV544-1 retains the DNA of the model that made Sakai successful, while delivering more power and efficiency.

The new generation is already on its way to authorized dealers.

A familiar machine, but stronger. More fuel-efficient. More responsive. An evolution without revolution—exactly as Sakai knows how to design them.

Er zijn machines die opnieuw worden uitgevonden. En dan zijn er machines die worden geperfectioneerd, zonder ooit hun reputatie te verloochenen.

Met de SV544-1 kiest Sakai America voor het laatste. De nieuwe versie van zijn 2,1 meter brede trilwals met één trommel arriveert nu bij het Noord-Amerikaanse dealernetwerk, met een simpele ambitie: meer nuttig vermogen bieden met een lager brandstofverbruik.

De SV544 is al lange tijd Sakai's vlaggenschipmodel. Zijn reputatie is gebouwd op drie pijlers: betrouwbaarheid, eenvoud en duurzaamheid. De SV544-1 streeft er niet naar om de formule radicaal te veranderen. Hij geeft hem simpelweg meer vermogen.

Meer vermogen, wanneer het ertoe doet

Onder de motorkap bevindt zich de nieuwe Cummins F3.8 Performance Series-motor, die nu 148 pk levert, tegenover 130 pk voorheen.

Het maximale vermogen neemt met 14% toe, maar het is vooral het koppel dat de machine transformeert: het stijgt van 360 naar 443 lb-ft, een toename van 23%, en is 100 toeren per minuut eerder beschikbaar.

Op een bouwplaats krijgen deze cijfers een geheel nieuwe dimensie. Op een helling, onder zware belasting of op ruw terrein, komt het vermogen sneller vrij en blijft de machine responsiever.

En Sakai heeft geen concessies gedaan aan het vermogen ten koste van het brandstofverbruik. Het brandstofverbruik is met ongeveer 8% gereduceerd, terwijl een Eco-modus nog grotere besparingen mogelijk maakt.

De nieuwe aandrijflijn reduceert ook het geluidsniveau en de CO₂-uitstoot met 8,2%, met name dankzij het beproefde Cummins Single Module-systeem.

Een eenvoudige evolutie

Sakai heeft ook de elektronische integratie van de machine herzien met een vereenvoudigde ECM-kabelboom en diverse ontwerpoptimalisaties.

Selecteerbare tractiecontrole, een versterkte centrale scharnier en duurzame isolatoren maken het pakket compleet. Deze laatste zijn ontworpen om tot 5.000 uur mee te gaan.

Een Amerikaanse machine, een Japanse filosofie

Achter deze mechanische evolutie schuilt een industriële geschiedenis.

De SV544-1 wordt volledig geassembleerd in de Sakai-fabriek in Georgia, VS. Dit is een bijzonder symbolische keuze, aangezien Sakai America zich voorbereidt op de viering van 50 jaar aanwezigheid in Noord-Amerika en 25 jaar lokale productie in Adairsville.
