Yanmar Compact Equipment réorganise sa production en Europe pour préparer l’avenir

Face à l’évolution du marché européen, Yanmar Compact Equipment (Yanmar CE) ajuste son dispositif industriel afin de bâtir une croissance plus équilibrée et durable. Annoncée en décembre, la décision prévoit la fermeture du site de Crailsheim, en Allemagne, d’ici fin 2025, et la centralisation de la production de chargeuses sur pneus à Saint-Dizier, en France.

Cette réorganisation s’inscrit dans un contexte de normalisation de la demande après les niveaux exceptionnellement élevés enregistrés en 2021 et 2022. « L’ensemble de l’industrie traverse cette phase », explique Jon Lopez, nommé président de Yanmar CE en novembre 2025. « C’est un processus sain, qui nous permet de poser des bases plus solides et plus efficaces pour l’avenir. »

Ouvert en 1978, le site de Crailsheim, d’une superficie de 65 000 m², était historiquement dédié à la production de chargeuses sur pneus. Le site de Saint-Dizier, opérationnel depuis 1989 sur 54 000 m², se concentrera désormais sur une production centralisée, s’appuyant sur son savoir-faire industriel, jusqu’ici principalement orienté vers les pelles compactes.

Jon Lopez décrit la période post-pandémique comme une véritable « ruée sucrée » de la demande. « Il s’agit avant tout de se préparer à demain. Nous nous alignons sur les réalités actuelles tout en investissant dans l’avenir, afin de rester résilients et prêts à monter en puissance lorsque la demande repartira », souligne-t-il.

Une ambition affirmée pour la région EMEA

Yanmar CE affiche une stratégie de croissance claire et ambitieuse en Europe, au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique. « En optimisant nos ressources de production et en faisant évoluer notre gamme de produits, nous voulons établir de nouveaux standards en matière de qualité, de fiabilité et d’expérience client », affirme Jon Lopez. « Notre engagement envers nos clients et partenaires dans toute la région EMEA reste total. »

L’innovation jouera un rôle central dans cette trajectoire, portée par trois piliers majeurs : la sécurité, la connectivité et la durabilité. L’électrification, les solutions de télématique et l’intelligence artificielle constituent le cœur de la feuille de route technologique du constructeur.

In response to the evolving European market, Yanmar Compact Equipment (Yanmar CE) is adjusting its industrial structure to build more balanced and sustainable growth. Announced in December, the decision includes the closure of the Crailsheim, Germany, site by the end of 2025 and the centralization of wheel loader production in Saint-Dizier, France.

This reorganization comes amid a normalization of demand following the exceptionally high levels recorded in 2021 and 2022. “The entire industry is going through this phase,” explains Jon Lopez, who will become President of Yanmar CE in November 2025. “It’s a healthy process that allows us to lay a stronger and more efficient foundation for the future.”

Opened in 1978, the 65,000 m² Crailsheim site was historically dedicated to the production of wheel loaders. The Saint-Dizier site, operational since 1989 and covering 54,000 m², will now focus on centralized production, leveraging its industrial expertise, which until now has been primarily geared towards compact excavators.

Jon Lopez describes the post-pandemic period as a veritable "sugar rush" in demand. "It's primarily about preparing for tomorrow. We are adapting to current realities while investing in the future, in order to remain resilient and ready to ramp up production when demand picks up again," he emphasizes.

A clear ambition for the EMEA region

Yanmar CE has a clear and ambitious growth strategy in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. “By optimizing our production resources and evolving our product range, we aim to set new standards in quality, reliability, and customer experience,” says Jon Lopez. “Our commitment to our customers and partners throughout the EMEA region remains unwavering.”

Innovation will play a central role in this trajectory, driven by three key pillars: safety, connectivity, and sustainability. Electrification, telematics solutions, and artificial intelligence form the core of the manufacturer’s technology roadmap.

“It all starts with safety,” concludes Jon Lopez. “Then, electrification and data-driven technologies will shape the next era of compact equipment. Yanmar is investing heavily in these areas because that’s how we create lasting value for our customers.”
