La fourniture de 15 unités à la société de collecte des déchets ALBA W&H Smart City est le premier contrat de Scania pour les camions électriques en Asie.
Les efforts mondiaux de Scania pour accélérer la transition vers le transport durable viennent de recevoir un coup de pouce significatif, avec la première vente de camions électriques à batterie sur le marché asiatique.
La branche singapourienne de la société berlinoise de recyclage et de services environnementaux ALBA W&H Smart City a acheté pas moins de 15 camions électriques à batterie Scania L230 B6x2*4, après avoir remporté un nouveau contrat de collecte publique des déchets pour le secteur Woodlands-Yishun de l'île ville-état.
La cabine surbaissée, le chargeur arrière et les neuf batteries de chaque camion avec 297 kWh installés le rendent bien adapté aux exigences de la collecte des déchets à Singapour. Avec six millions de personnes partageant seulement 728 kilomètres carrés, la ville est l'un des territoires urbains les plus densément peuplés au monde, faisant de la collecte des déchets efficace, sans émissions et silencieuse un facteur clé pour atteindre une qualité de vie plus durable.
Les autorités de Singapour contribuent à stimuler le marché des véhicules électriques
La vente des camions a été en partie motivée par le fort engagement du gouvernement de la République de Singapour en faveur du transport durable. Les autorités ont imposé comme condition préalable à tous les appels d'offres de transport public qu'un certain nombre minimum de la flotte de collecte des déchets soit électrique.
« Singapour est unique en Asie du Sud-Est à adopter une position aussi progressiste en matière de transport respectueux de l'environnement. En mettant en place une politique spécifique sur l'électrification qui à son tour crée un marché pour les véhicules électriques, le gouvernement singapourien prend vraiment l'initiative d'un changement durable », déclare David Lantz, directeur de la transition vers un système de transport plus durable pour Scania Asie du Sud-Est.
« Nous constatons que les villes sont à l'origine de la tendance à l'électrification par le biais de la législation environnementale et d'aspects tels que le coût total d'exploitation. Ainsi, les entreprises de traitement des déchets avant-gardistes telles que ALBA W&H Smart City voient le potentiel d'expansion dans ce domaine », ajoute Kristine Stålhandske, Sales Manager pour eMobility chez Scania Group.
Camions opérationnels d'ici le troisième trimestre 2022
Les 15 nouveaux châssis de camion sont en cours de construction sur la chaîne de montage principale de Scania à Södertälje, en Suède, et seront expédiés à Singapour au milieu de l'année.
Là, les véhicules auront des corps de compacteur de déchets spéciaux montés sur leur châssis, et il est prévu que les camions soient opérationnels dans les rues de Singapour d'ici le troisième trimestre de 2022, ALBA W&H Smart City fournissant les services de collecte des déchets de la ville pour leur nouveau secteur pour les six prochaines années.

Supply of 15 units to waste collection company ALBA W&H Smart City is Scania’s first electric truck agreement in Asia.
Scania's global efforts to drive the shift towards sustainable transport have just received a significant boost, with the company's first sale of battery-electric trucks to the Asian market.
The Singapore arm of Berlin-based recycling and environmental services company ALBA W&H Smart City has purchased no fewer than 15 Scania L230 battery-electric B6x2*4 trucks, after winning a new contract for public waste collection for the Woodlands-Yishun sector of the island city state.
Each truck's low-entry cab, rear loader and nine batteries with 297kW hours installed makes it well-suited to the demands of collecting waste in Singapore. With six million people sharing just 728 square kilometres, the city is one of the world’s most densely populated urban territories, making efficient, emission-free and quiet waste collection a key contributor to achieving a more sustainable quality of life.
Singapore authorities help drive electric vehicle market
The sale of the trucks was partly driven by the Republic of Singapore Government's strong commitment to sustainable transport. The authorities have made it a pre-requisite of all public transport tenders that a certain minimum amount of the waste collection fleet must be electric-powered.
“Singapore is unique in Southeast Asia in taking such a progressive stand on environmentally-friendly transport. By putting in a specific piece of policy on electrification that in turn creates a market for electric vehicles, the Singaporean Government is really taking the lead in driving sustainable change,” says David Lantz, Director of Driving the Shift to a more sustainable transport system for Scania Southeast Asia.
“We see that cities are driving the trend towards electrification through environmental legislation and aspects such as total cost of operation. Thus, forward-thinking waste handling companies such as ALBA W&H Smart City see the potential for expanding into this area,” adds Kristine Stålhandske, Sales Manager for eMobility at Scania Group.
Trucks operational by Q3, 2022
The 15 new truck chassis are being built at Scania's main assembly line in Södertälje, Sweden, and will be shipped to Singapore in the middle of the year.
There, the vehicles will have special waste compactor bodies fitted onto their chassis, and it's expected that the trucks will be operational on the streets of Singapore by Q3 of 2022, with ALBA W&H Smart City providing the city's waste collection services for their new sector for the next six years.

Door een specifiek stukje elektrificatiebeleid in te voeren dat op zijn beurt een markt voor elektrische voertuigen creëert, neemt de Singaporese regering echt het voortouw bij het stimuleren van duurzame verandering”, zegt David Lantz, directeur van Driving the Shift to a more sustainable transport system for Scania Zuidoost-Azië.
“We zien dat steden de trend naar elektrificatie stimuleren via milieuwetgeving en aspecten zoals de totale bedrijfskosten. Dus vooruitstrevende afvalverwerkingsbedrijven zoals ALBA W&H Smart City zien het potentieel om uit te breiden naar dit gebied”, voegt Kristine Stålhandske, Sales Manager voor eMobility bij Scania Group, toe.
Vrachtwagens operationeel tegen Q3 2022
De 15 nieuwe vrachtwagenchassis worden gebouwd op Scania's belangrijkste assemblagelijn in Södertälje, Zweden, en zullen halverwege het jaar naar Singapore worden verscheept.
Daar zullen de voertuigen speciale afvalperslichamen op hun chassis hebben gemonteerd, en naar verwachting zullen de vrachtwagens in het derde kwartaal van 2022 operationeel zijn in de straten van Singapore, waarbij ALBA W&H Smart City de afvalinzamelingsdiensten van de stad levert voor hun nieuwe sector voor de komende zes jaar.
