Shell a signé un protocole d'accord (MOU) avec Connect Plus - un consortium qui comprend Edge Orbital Holdings Ltd, Balfour Beatty et Egis Investment Partners, pour développer et déployer des solutions et des technologies pour décarboner le pavage des routes au Royaume-Uni en prolongeant la durée de vie des chaussées .
Shell et Connect Plus partagent le point de vue selon lequel la collaboration à travers la chaîne de valeur des autoroutes et de la construction est nécessaire pour la décarbonation du secteur.
En travaillant ensemble, les entreprises viseront à débloquer des solutions et des pratiques nouvelles et innovantes pour aider à améliorer les performances des routes et encourager les progrès vers une industrie de revêtement routier à consommation nette zéro.
L'accord permettra aux entreprises d'explorer des solutions pour prolonger la durée de vie de la chaussée de la M25 ou de l'autoroute orbitale de Londres, la deuxième route orbitale la plus longue d'Europe. Connect Plus a un contrat de 30 ans avec National Highways, signé en 2009, pour exploiter, entretenir et gérer la M25 et ses principales artères de liaison.
La M25 est l'une des autoroutes les plus fréquentées d'Europe, utilisée par plus de 200 000 véhicules par jour, tout en reliant les personnes et le fret via deux grands ports maritimes à conteneurs et cinq aéroports internationaux.
Dans le cadre de l'accord, Connect Plus testera Shell Cariphalte AgeSafe, le nouveau produit de bitume modifié aux polymères de Shell qui augmente la durée de vie des routes. Les entreprises travailleront également ensemble pour comprendre le développement de la texture de la surface de la route, explorer d'autres stratégies de conception de la chaussée et développer des modèles de défaillance de la chaussée à partir de mesures sur le terrain pertinentes pour le Royaume-Uni.
L'accord entre Shell et Connect Plus commencera immédiatement pour nous permettre de commencer à progresser sur la décarbonation du revêtement routier en asphalte au Royaume-Uni.

Shell has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Connect Plus – a consortium that includes Edge Orbital Holdings Ltd, Balfour Beatty and Egis Investment Partners, to develop and deploy solutions and technologies to decarbonise road paving in the UK by extending the life of pavements.
Shell and Connect Plus share a perspective that collaboration across the highways and construction value chain is necessary for the decarbonisation of the sector.
By working together, the companies will aim to unlock new and innovative solutions and practices to help improve road performance and encourage progress towards a net-zero road paving industry.
The agreement will see the companies explore solutions to extend the pavement life of the M25 or London Orbital Motorway, the second longest orbital road in Europe. Connect Plus has a 30-year contract with National Highways, signed in 2009, to operate, maintain and manage the M25 and its key arterial link roads.
The M25 is one of the busiest motorways in Europe, used by over 200,000 vehicles a day, while linking people and freight through two major container seaports and five international airports.
As part of the agreement, Connect Plus will trial Shell Cariphalte AgeSafe, Shell’s new polymer-modified bitumen product that increases the lifespan of roads. The companies will also work together to understand road surface texture development, explore alternate pavement design strategies, and develop pavement failure models from field measurements relevant to the UK.
The agreement between Shell and Connect Plus will begin immediately to enable us to start delivering progress on the decarbonisation of asphalt road paving in the UK.
