STRABAG poursuit son offensive dans les infrastructures ferroviaires européennes. Le groupe autrichien STRABAG SE a signé un accord pour acquérir 100 % de BAWI Construction SRL, une opération qui renforce considérablement sa présence sur l’un des marchés ferroviaires les plus dynamiques d’Europe du Sud-Est.

Basée à Bucarest, BAWI s’est imposée comme un acteur de référence dans la construction et la modernisation des infrastructures ferroviaires. Forte d’environ 240 collaborateurs, d’un parc d’équipements spécialisés et d’une capacité de production largement intégrée, l’entreprise devrait générer près de 60 millions d’euros d’activité en 2025.

Cette acquisition permet à STRABAG d’élargir son expertise technique, d’accroître ses capacités opérationnelles et de renforcer l’intégration de sa chaîne de valeur dans le secteur ferroviaire. Un positionnement stratégique alors que la Roumanie bénéficie d’importants investissements soutenus par les programmes européens de modernisation des transports.

Pour Péter Glöckler, membre du directoire de STRABAG en charge de la région Sud et Est, cette opération ouvre de nouvelles perspectives dans un marché à fort potentiel, tout en consolidant les activités ferroviaires du groupe dans une région appelée à jouer un rôle majeur dans les futurs corridors de mobilité européens.

Sous réserve des autorisations réglementaires habituelles, la finalisation de la transaction est attendue au second semestre 2026. Une nouvelle étape qui confirme l’ambition de STRABAG de devenir un acteur incontournable du renouveau ferroviaire européen.

STRABAG continues its expansion in European rail infrastructure. The Austrian group STRABAG SE has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of BAWI Construction SRL, a move that significantly strengthens its presence in one of the most dynamic rail markets in Southeast Europe.

Based in Bucharest, BAWI has established itself as a leading player in the construction and modernization of rail infrastructure. With approximately 240 employees, a fleet of specialized equipment, and a largely integrated production capacity, the company is expected to generate nearly €60 million in revenue by 2025.

This acquisition allows STRABAG to broaden its technical expertise, increase its operational capabilities, and strengthen the integration of its value chain in the rail sector. This strategic positioning comes at a time when Romania is benefiting from significant investments supported by European transport modernization programs.

For Péter Glöckler, STRABAG's board member in charge of the Southern and Eastern regions, this transaction opens up new opportunities in a high-potential market, while consolidating the group's rail activities in a region destined to play a major role in future European mobility corridors.

Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026. This new step confirms STRABAG's ambition to become a key player in the renewal of European rail.

STRABAG zet zijn expansie in de Europese spoorinfrastructuur voort. De Oostenrijkse groep STRABAG SE heeft een overeenkomst getekend voor de overname van 100% van BAWI Construction SRL. Deze stap versterkt de positie van STRABAG aanzienlijk in een van de meest dynamische spoormarkten in Zuidoost-Europa.

BAWI, gevestigd in Boekarest, heeft zich gevestigd als een toonaangevende speler in de bouw en modernisering van spoorinfrastructuur. Met circa 240 medewerkers, een vloot van gespecialiseerd materieel en een grotendeels geïntegreerde productiecapaciteit, zal het bedrijf naar verwachting in 2025 een omzet van bijna € 60 miljoen genereren.
