Yanmar America Corporation a introduit une solution avancée de véhicule guidé automatisé (AGV) dans son usine de fabrication d'Adairsville, en Géorgie.
Selon le fabricant, l'ajout du système AGV modulaire à la chaîne de production de générateurs de la série Powerpack de Yanmar a décuplé la capacité de production et augmenté la qualité des produits livrés aux clients.

La solution AGV a été sélectionnée comme étant hautement performante, évolutive, flexible et compétitive. De plus, le délai d'exécution, de deux à quatre mois, était nettement inférieur au délai de mise en œuvre du convoyeur de plus de six mois.
Le système ne nécessite pas de connaissances approfondies en programmation ni d'ingénieur en automatisation pour sa mise en œuvre et peut même être contrôlé via une application de la boutique Google Play.
Pour l'avenir, la solution AGV de Yanmar America a la flexibilité de croître avec son activité. L'équipe d'ingénieurs peut facilement modifier le chemin, étendre, rétrécir, changer de forme ou ajouter des arrêts ou des stations supplémentaires pour répondre à la demande et aux exigences du marché.
"Alors que nous continuons à nous développer non seulement dans Powerpack, mais aussi dans le mode de vie rural et d'autres activités, nous prenons du recul et réexaminons notre approche de fabrication", a déclaré Scott Shorrock, directeur des opérations chez Yanmar America. Yanmar America Corporation has introduced an advanced automated guided vehicle (AGV) solution to its Adairsville, Ga., manufacturing facility.
The addition of the modular AGV system to Yanmar's Powerpack series generator production line has boosted production capacity ten-fold and increased the quality of products delivered to customers, according to the manufacturer.
"We brought Powerpack assembly inhouse to our Adairsville facility as a way to offer more solutions and maintain high levels of product quality reaching the end user," said Zach Morgan, a production engineer at Yanmar America. "Demand began to quickly increase, far outstripping the ability of the small cell that was originally constructed to support the effort."
At this point, the team got together and came up with several potential solutions including conveyor systems, assorted carts, overhead cranes, and the current implementation — automated guided vehicles. The AGV solution was selected as being highly capable, scalable, flexible and cost competitive. Also, the lead time, at two to four months, was significantly less than the conveyor implementation timeline of more than six months.
The system does not require in-depth programming knowledge or an automation engineer for implementation and can even be controlled through an app from the Google Play store.
Looking forward, Yanmar America's AGV solution has the flexibility to grow with its business. The engineering team can easily change the path, extend, shrink, change shape or add additional stops or stations to accommodate demand and meet market requirements.
"As we continue to grow not only in Powerpack, but also in the rural lifestyle and other businesses, we're taking a step back and reexamining our manufacturing approach," said Scott Shorrock, director of operations at Yanmar America. "Yanmar is all about embracing change and taking on new challenges."

Yanmar America Corporation heeft een geavanceerde oplossing voor automatisch geleide voertuigen (AGV) geïntroduceerd in zijn productiefaciliteit in Adairsville, Georgia.

Ook was de doorlooptijd van twee tot vier maanden aanzienlijk korter dan de implementatietijdlijn van de transportband van meer dan zes maanden.
Het systeem vereist geen diepgaande programmeerkennis of een automatiseringsingenieur voor implementatie en kan zelfs worden bediend via een app uit de Google Play Store.
Vooruitblikkend, heeft de AGV-oplossing van Yanmar America de flexibiliteit om met zijn bedrijf mee te groeien. Het engineeringteam kan eenvoudig het pad wijzigen, verlengen, verkleinen, van vorm veranderen of extra haltes of stations toevoegen om aan de vraag te voldoen en aan de marktvereisten te voldoen.
"Omdat we niet alleen blijven groeien in Powerpack, maar ook in de levensstijl op het platteland en andere bedrijven, doen we een stap terug en onderzoeken we onze productieaanpak opnieuw", zegt Scott Shorrock, operationeel directeur bij Yanmar America. "Bij Yanmar draait alles om het omarmen van verandering en het aangaan van nieuwe uitdagingen."
