Valmont remporte quatre prix de galvanisation à chaud

Présentés chaque année par l'AGA, les prix d'excellence en galvanisation à chaud récompensent des projets uniques, créatifs et impressionnants utilisant de l'acier galvanisé. Le concours attire plus de 100 soumissions en compétition dans 12 secteurs et 3 catégories spéciales. Cette année, les soumissions gagnantes de Valmont soulignent le rôle important que joue la galvanisation dans la protection de nos infrastructures critiques.
Rick Cornish, président de Global Coatings chez Valmont, a déclaré : « Le concours annuel de récompenses de l'AGA nous offre l'occasion de célébrer nos contributions à la conservation des ressources et à l'amélioration de la vie des clients et des employés. Dans le secteur des ponts et autoroutes, Valmont a été reconnu non seulement pour ses services de galvanisation à Valley, NE, mais également en tant que fabricant du pont U-BEAM™ installé à Fort Wingate à Gallup, NM. Pour ce projet, la sécurité et la durabilité étaient deux considérations très importantes. Situé sur un site de nettoyage environnemental actif, le revêtement de zinc galvanisé n'introduira pas de nouveaux contaminants ni ne constituera une menace pour le sol ou les eaux souterraines.
Le secteur du revêtement duplex met en évidence les projets utilisant une couche de finition de peinture ou de revêtement en poudre sur de l'acier galvanisé. L'effet synergique de l'utilisation des deux systèmes augmente la durée de vie jusqu'à 2,5 fois la somme de la durée de vie du revêtement individuel. Cette année, notre usine de galvanisation de Miami a été sélectionnée pour ses contributions à un nouvel auvent chez South Motors BMW qui protégera les véhicules de luxe de l'entreprise. La structure galvanisée a été peinte en blanc pour une protection et une esthétique supplémentaires.

Le lauréat de cette année dans le secteur de l'électricité, des services publics et des communications souligne le rôle que joue la galvanisation dans la fourniture d'une électricité fiable et continue. La Key Crossing Reliability Initiative était un projet complexe qui a nécessité près d'une décennie de recherche et de planification. Lorsque Baltimore Gas & Electric a finalement choisi une ligne de transmission aérienne traversant la rivière Patapsco, ils se sont appuyés sur Burn & McDonnel pour la gestion du projet et sur Valmont pour la fabrication et la galvanisation. Non seulement le projet a nécessité un impressionnant 981 tonnes d'acier galvanisé, mais l'un des monopoles est désormais le plus haut du continent !
Enfin, dans le secteur industriel, la galvanisation est mise à l'épreuve à 3 000 pieds sous terre à la Turquoise Ridge Gold Mine. Cet environnement difficile d'accès, humide et corrosif nécessitait un revêtement protecteur qui assurerait une durée de vie minimale de 30 ans sans entretien. Notre installation de galvanisation Intermountain à Lindon, UT a livré, fournissant des services de galvanisation pour 750 tonnes d'acier.

Valmont wins four Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards

Valmont® Industries, Inc., a global leader that provides vital infrastructure and advances agricultural productivity while driving innovation through technology, accepted four Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards at the American Galvanizers Association’s (AGA) Annual Conference on March 29th.
Presented annually by the AGA, the Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards recognizes unique, creative, and impressive projects utilizing galvanized steel. The competition attracts over 100 submissions competing across 12 sectors and 3 special categories. This year, the winning Valmont submissions highlight the important role galvanizing plays in protecting our critical infrastructure.

The specification of hot-dip galvanizing impacts everyone by bolstering the safety and durability of structures we use every day. From the impressive projects recognized through the awards this year to small parts we process daily, every piece we galvanize is important to us. That’s the value we add.”
In the Bridge & Highway sector, Valmont was recognized not only for our galvanizing services in Valley, NE but also as the fabricator of the U-BEAM™ bridge installed at Fort Wingate in Gallup, NM. For this project, safety & sustainability were two very important considerations. Located on an active environmental clean-up site, the galvanized zinc coating will not introduce new contaminants or pose a threat to the soil or groundwater.
The duplex coating sector highlights projects utilizing a topcoat of paint or powder coating over galvanized steel. The synergistic effect of using both systems together increase the lifespan by up to 2.5 times the sum of the individual coating’s lifespan. This year, our Miami Galvanizing plant was selected for its contributions to a new canopy at South Motors BMW that will protect the company’s luxury vehicles. The galvanized structure was painted white for additional protection and aesthetics.

This year’s winner in the Electrical, Utility, & Communication sector highlights the role galvanizing plays in providing reliable and continuous electricity. The Key Crossing Reliability Initiative was a complex project that required nearly a decade of research and planning. When Baltimore Gas & Electric ultimately selected an overhead transmission line crossing the Patapsco River, they relied on Burn & McDonnel for project management and Valmont for the fabrication and galvanizing. Not only did the project require an impressive 981 tons of galvanized steel, but one of the monopoles is now the tallest on the continent!
Finally, in the industrial sector, galvanizing is put to the test 3,000 feet underground at the Turquoise Ridge Gold Mine. This difficult to access, moist, and corrosive environment required a protective coating that would provide a minimum 30-year life without maintenance. Our Intermountain Galvanizing facility in Lindon, UT delivered, providing galvanizing services for 750 tons of steel.

De Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards, jaarlijks uitgereikt door de AGA, erkent unieke, creatieve en indrukwekkende projecten waarbij gegalvaniseerd staal wordt gebruikt. De wedstrijd trekt meer dan 100 inzendingen die strijden in 12 sectoren en 3 speciale categorieën. Dit jaar benadrukken de winnende Valmont-inzendingen de belangrijke rol die galvanisering speelt bij de bescherming van onze kritieke infrastructuur.

In de Bridge & Highway-sector werd Valmont niet alleen erkend voor onze verzinkingsdiensten in Valley, NE, maar ook als de fabrikant van de U-BEAM™-brug die werd geïnstalleerd in Fort Wingate in Gallup, NM. Voor dit project waren veiligheid en duurzaamheid twee zeer belangrijke overwegingen. Gelegen op een actieve milieusaneringssite, zal de gegalvaniseerde zinkcoating geen nieuwe verontreinigingen introduceren of een bedreiging vormen voor de bodem of het grondwater.
De duplexcoatingsector belicht projecten waarbij een toplaag van verf of poedercoating op gegalvaniseerd staal wordt gebruikt. Het synergetische effect van het gebruik van beide systemen samen verlengt de levensduur tot 2,5 keer de som van de levensduur van de individuele coating. Dit jaar werd onze Miami Galvanizing-fabriek geselecteerd vanwege haar bijdragen aan een nieuwe luifel bij South Motors BMW die de luxe voertuigen van het bedrijf zal beschermen. De gegalvaniseerde structuur werd wit geverfd voor extra bescherming en esthetiek.

De winnaar van dit jaar in de sector Electrical, Utility & Communication benadrukt de rol die galvaniseren speelt bij het leveren van betrouwbare en continue elektriciteit. Het Key Crossing Reliability Initiative was een complex project dat bijna tien jaar onderzoek en planning vergde. Toen Baltimore Gas & Electric uiteindelijk een bovengrondse transmissielijn koos die de Patapsco-rivier overstak, vertrouwden ze op Burn & McDonnel voor projectmanagement en Valmont voor de fabricage en het verzinken. Voor het project was niet alleen maar liefst 981 ton gegalvaniseerd staal nodig, maar een van de monopolen is nu de hoogste van het continent!
Ten slotte wordt verzinken in de industriële sector 3000 voet onder de grond op de proef gesteld bij de Turquoise Ridge Gold Mine. Deze moeilijk toegankelijke, vochtige en corrosieve omgeving vereiste een beschermende coating die een minimale levensduur van 30 jaar zou bieden zonder onderhoud.
