Volvo Construction Equipment franchit une nouvelle étape dans l’évolution de sa gamme de pelles hydrauliques avec le lancement de la nouvelle ECR255, une pelle sur chenilles à rayon court conçue pour exceller là où l’espace est compté. Remplaçante de la ECR235E, elle affiche des performances en nette progression, avec 7 % de capacité de levage supplémentaire et jusqu’à 10 % d’économies de carburant.
La ECR255 fera sa première apparition publique à CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, à Las Vegas, où Volvo CE présentera l’ensemble de ses innovations de nouvelle génération.
Une machine compacte pensée pour les environnements exigeants
Destinée aux chantiers urbains, aux travaux de réseaux et aux projets d’infrastructure complexes, la ECR255 associe un rayon de rotation arrière réduit à une puissance impressionnante. Cette combinaison permet aux entrepreneurs de travailler avec précision et sécurité dans les espaces confinés, sans compromis sur la productivité.
La ECR255 rejoint ainsi les modèles à rayon court ECR355, ECR145 et ECR90, complétant une gamme désormais entièrement renouvelée.
« Avec ce lancement, Volvo propose aujourd’hui l’une des gammes de pelles à rayon court les plus complètes du marché. La ECR255 permet à nos clients de travailler plus efficacement dans les espaces restreints, grâce à une capacité de levage accrue, une consommation réduite et un environnement opérateur de référence », explique Jaesu Kim, chef de projet principal chez Volvo CE.
Performance, précision et efficacité énergétique
Au cœur de la ECR255 se trouve un système électro-hydraulique de nouvelle génération, intégrant une gestion intelligente du refroidissement et du régime moteur. Résultat : un couple élevé à bas régime, des mouvements plus fluides et une réduction notable des pertes d’énergie.
Les fonctions d’arrêt automatique, de ralenti intelligent et de modes de travail personnalisables contribuent à réduire les coûts d’exploitation tout en maintenant un haut niveau de performance.
Grâce à une structure redessinée et à un contrepoids plus lourd, la ECR255 améliore sa capacité de levage de 7 %. Associée au système Volvo Active Control, l’automatisation des mouvements du bras et du godet permet d’exécuter les opérations de creusement et de nivellement jusqu’à 45 % plus rapidement, tout en réduisant la fatigue de l’opérateur.
Disponibilité maximale et sécurité renforcée
Conçue pour maximiser le temps de fonctionnement, la ECR255 bénéficie d’intervalles d’entretien prolongés : jusqu’à 1 000 heures pour l’huile moteur et 3 000 heures pour l’huile hydraulique. Les points de maintenance sont facilement accessibles depuis le sol, et les systèmes de télématique Volvo assurent un suivi en temps réel et une maintenance prédictive.
Côté sécurité, la pelle peut être équipée du système Volvo Smart View avec détection d’obstacles, offrant une vision panoramique à 360° et la capacité de différencier les objets des personnes présentes sur le chantier.

La cabine de la ECR255 se distingue par son confort exceptionnel : environ 20 % plus spacieuse que la moyenne des pelles à rayon court, elle est silencieuse, ergonomique et entièrement tournée vers la productivité. Volvo Construction Equipment is taking another step forward in the evolution of its hydraulic excavator range with the launch of the new ECR255, a short-radius crawler excavator designed to excel where space is at a premium. Replacing the ECR235E, it boasts significantly improved performance, with 7% more lifting capacity and up to 10% fuel savings.
The ECR255 will make its public debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas, where Volvo CE will showcase its full range of next-generation innovations.
A Compact Machine Designed for Demanding Environments
Designed for urban construction sites, utility work, and complex infrastructure projects, the ECR255 combines a tight tail swing radius with impressive power. This combination allows contractors to work with precision and safety in confined spaces, without compromising productivity.
The ECR255 joins the ECR355, ECR145, and ECR90 short-radius models, completing a now entirely renewed range.
“With this launch, Volvo now offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of short-radius excavators on the market. The ECR255 allows our customers to work more efficiently in tight spaces, thanks to increased lifting capacity, reduced fuel consumption, and a benchmark operator environment,” explains Jaesu Kim, Senior Project Manager at Volvo CE.
Performance, Precision, and Energy Efficiency
At the heart of the ECR255 is a next-generation electro-hydraulic system, incorporating intelligent cooling and engine speed management. The result: high torque at low engine speeds, smoother movements, and a significant reduction in energy losses.
Automatic stop, intelligent idle, and customizable work modes help reduce operating costs while maintaining high performance.
Thanks to a redesigned structure and a heavier counterweight, the ECR255 improves its lifting capacity by 7%. Combined with Volvo Active Control, automated boom and bucket movements allow digging and grading operations to be completed up to 45% faster, while reducing operator fatigue.
Maximum uptime and enhanced safety
Designed to maximize uptime, the ECR255 benefits from extended service intervals: up to 1,000 hours for engine oil and 3,000 hours for hydraulic oil. Maintenance points are easily accessible from the ground, and Volvo telematics systems provide real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
On the safety front, the excavator can be equipped with the Volvo Smart View system with obstacle detection, offering a 360° panoramic view and the ability to differentiate between objects and people on the job site.
An operator environment that meets Volvo standards
The ECR255 cab stands out for its exceptional comfort: approximately 20% more spacious than the average short-radius excavator, it is quiet, ergonomic, and entirely focused on productivity.
