Dans le cadre de son engagement à mener la transformation vers le développement durable et à accélérer le passage à l'électromobilité, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) a investi dans la société néerlandaise Limach, un fabricant de pelles électriques pour le marché intérieur.
L'investissement majoritaire dans Electric Special Technics B.V - qui opère sous la marque Limach - complète la feuille de route d'électrification à long terme de Volvo CE et offre la possibilité d'élargir rapidement le portefeuille d'électromobilité et d'ajouter aux cinq machines électriques compactes actuellement disponibles, étendant encore ce qui est déjà la gamme la plus large du marché.
Limach propose des pelles électriques sur pneus et sur chenilles sur mesure au marché néerlandais. Entreprise innovante, elle applique la technologie éprouvée des batteries Li-Ion pour développer des machines de construction électriques de première classe en utilisant les produits Volvo CE conventionnels comme base.
« Le changement climatique est réel et nous croyons que collaborer de nouvelles façons est essentiel pour répondre à la demande croissante de solutions durables. En tant que leader des solutions de construction électrique, nous considérons Limach comme un acteur intéressant sur un marché en évolution et un excellent complément à notre portefeuille existant de machines électriques, ce qui signifie que nos clients bénéficieront d'une gamme plus large pour répondre à leurs besoins.
« Travailler ensemble et avec notre base de clients combinée ouvre des opportunités de co-apprentissage et d'expansion des expériences de ces types de solutions, alors que nous continuons à conduire la transformation vers des sources d'énergie durables », déclare Thomas Bitter, responsable de la technologie chez Volvo CE.
La gamme actuelle s'étend de la mini-pelle électrique compacte E18.3 avec une plage de fonctionnement de 1 810 kg à la E140.1, qui affiche un poids en ordre de marche de plus de 14 000 kg et complète la gamme existante de machines électriques de Volvo CE. Ensemble, ils offrent aux clients une variété de solutions pour répondre à leurs ambitions de réduction des émissions, explique Henri de Groot, CTO chez Limach.
Le moteur à combustion interne de certaines excavatrices sera remplacé par un kit d'électrification développé par Limach.
Rens de Bruijn, PDG de Limach, déclare : « Limach a été créée dans le but de développer des engins de chantier à entraînement électrique. Chaque machine est fabriquée sur mesure dans notre usine de production à Ede aux Pays-Bas et livrée selon les spécifications du client. Depuis le développement de notre première pelle de démonstration en 2017, nous avons constaté une demande croissante de la part de clients aux Pays-Bas. Grâce à l'investissement de Volvo CE, nous pouvons augmenter la production de nos pelles électriques et étendre la gamme que nous proposons pour répondre à cet appétit croissant pour les entraînements électriques.
Limach continuera à fonctionner comme une entreprise autonome. La transaction ne devrait pas avoir d'impact significatif sur les résultats ou la situation financière du groupe Volvo.

As part of its commitment to lead the sustainability transformation and accelerate the shift to electromobility, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has invested in Dutch firm Limach, a manufacturer of electric excavators for the domestic market.
The majority investment in Electric Special Technics B.V - which operates under the brand name Limach - complements Volvo CE’s long-term electrification roadmap and provides the opportunity to swiftly broaden the electromobility portfolio and add to the five electric compact machines currently available, further extending what is already the widest range on the market.
Limach offers customized electric wheeled and crawler excavators to the Dutch market. An innovative company, it applies proven Li-Ion battery technology to develop first-class electrical construction machines using conventional Volvo CE products as a base.
“Climate change is real and we believe collaborating in new ways is key to meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions. As a leader in electric construction solutions, we see Limach as an interesting actor in a progressive market, and a great complement to our existing portfolio of electric machines, meaning our customers will benefit from a broader range to suit their requirements.

The current range extends from the compact E18.3 electric mini excavator with an operating range of 1,810kg to the E140.1, which packs an operating weight of over 14,000 kg and complements Volvo CE’s existing range of electric machines. Together, they offer customers a variety of solutions to meet their emission reduction ambitions, says Henri de Groot, CTO at Limach.
The internal combustion engine on select excavators will be replaced by a Limach developed electrification kit.
Rens de Bruijn, CEO at Limach, says: “Limach was established with the purpose to develop construction equipment with an electric drive. Each machine is custom-made at our production facility in Ede in the Netherlands and delivered according to customer specifications. Since the development of our first demonstrator excavator in 2017, we have seen growing demand from customers in the Netherlands. Thanks to the investment from Volvo CE, we can scale-up production of our electric excavators and extend the range we offer to meet this growing appetite for electric drives.”
Limach will continue to operate as a standalone company. The transaction is not expected to have a significant impact on the Volvo Group’s earnings or financial position.

Als onderdeel van zijn toewijding om de transformatie naar duurzaamheid te leiden en de overgang naar elektromobiliteit te versnellen, heeft Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) geïnvesteerd in het Nederlandse bedrijf Limach, een fabrikant van elektrische graafmachines voor de binnenlandse markt.
De meerderheidsinvestering in Electric Special Technics B.V - dat opereert onder de merknaam Limach - vormt een aanvulling op Volvo CE's langetermijnplan voor elektrificatie en biedt de mogelijkheid om het elektromobiliteitsportfolio snel uit te breiden en toe te voegen aan de vijf elektrische compacte machines die momenteel beschikbaar zijn, wat een verdere uitbreiding is van wat is nu al het grootste assortiment op de markt.
Limach biedt op maat gemaakte elektrische wiel- en rupsgraafmachines aan op de Nederlandse markt. Als innovatief bedrijf past het bewezen Li-Ion-batterijtechnologie toe om eersteklas elektrische bouwmachines te ontwikkelen met conventionele Volvo CE-producten als basis.

Het huidige assortiment strekt zich uit van de compacte E18.3 elektrische minigraafmachine met een werkbereik van 1.810 kg tot de E140.1, met een bedrijfsgewicht van meer dan 14.000 kg en een aanvulling op het bestaande assortiment elektrische machines van Volvo CE. Samen bieden ze klanten een verscheidenheid aan oplossingen om hun ambities op het gebied van emissiereductie te realiseren, zegt Henri de Groot, CTO bij Limach.
De verbrandingsmotor van bepaalde graafmachines zal worden vervangen door een door Limach ontwikkelde elektrificatiekit.
Rens de Bruijn, CEO van Limach: “Limach is opgericht met als doel bouwmachines te ontwikkelen met een elektrische aandrijving. Elke machine wordt op maat gemaakt in onze productiefaciliteit in Ede in Nederland en geleverd volgens klantspecificaties. Sinds de ontwikkeling van onze eerste demonstratiegraafmachine in 2017 zien we een groeiende vraag van klanten in Nederland. Dankzij de investering van Volvo CE kunnen we de productie van onze elektrische graafmachines opschalen en het aanbod uitbreiden om aan deze groeiende vraag naar elektrische aandrijvingen te voldoen.”
Limach zal blijven opereren als een op zichzelf staand bedrijf. De transactie zal naar verwachting geen significante impact hebben op de winst of financiële positie van de Volvo Group.
