VOLVO CE - Donnant une nouvelle tournure à la « construction à la volée », une pelle compacte Volvo CE a été livrée par hélicoptère sur un chantier de construction en Suisse.

La société a fourni des images à couper le souffle de l'ECR25 tout électrique planant à 3 000 m au-dessus des pentes de la montagne Schilthorn dans les Alpes suisses, alors qu'il arrivait au sommet, pour aider à la construction des fondations d'une nouvelle station au sommet.
Selon Volvo, l'ECR25 est l'une des rares machines d'excavation compactes capables de travailler à l'altitude de 2 970 m du site, en raison de sa transmission électrique - alors que l'air moins dense et riche en oxygène dans les montagnes cause des problèmes pour les moteurs à combustion interne, le machine électrique fonctionne aussi bien à haute qu'à basse altitude.
Volvo a déclaré que l'avantage évident de l'ECR25 étant une machine à zéro émission était également une considération dans son utilisation sur le projet.
Melchior Burlon, responsable du site chez Ghelma AG Baubetriebe, qui effectue les travaux, a déclaré : « Il y a deux problèmes principaux dans les montagnes : d'une part, nous n'avons pas beaucoup d'espace ici ; et d'autre part, nous rencontrons souvent des problèmes avec les moteurs diesel fonctionnant en altitude à cause de la rareté de l'air et du froid.
Bulon a ajouté : « Volvo CE est le seul fournisseur qui offre quelque chose de cette ampleur. Sinon, il n'y avait que des excavatrices jusqu'à deux tonnes et nous voulions la machine la plus puissante pour le travail - et quelque chose que nous pourrions toujours transporter par hélicoptère si nécessaire.

Une fois terminé, le projet Schilthornbahn comprendra la mise en place d'un parcours de téléphérique entre le village de Stechelberg et le sommet du Schilthorn.
D'un coût estimé à 102 millions d'euros, le nouveau téléphérique et station sommitale emblématique - rendu célèbre par son utilisation dans le film de James Bond Au service secret de Sa Majesté - permettra à jusqu'à 800 touristes par heure de visiter le sommet de la montagne.
Timur Abied, chef de produit utilitaire chez Volvo CE, a déclaré : « Nous sommes ravis que l'ECR25 Electric ait été sélectionné pour ce projet. Non seulement c'est un endroit délicat, mais c'est aussi extrêmement emblématique.
« Nous avons l'habitude de discuter des avantages des machines électriques quasi silencieuses à zéro émission dans les zones urbaines très fréquentées et pour les travaux en intérieur. Mais ce projet montre la polyvalence de l'électrique pour résoudre plus de problèmes qu'on ne le pense.

VOLVO CE-Putting a new spin on ‘construction on the fly’, a Volvo CE compact excavator has been delivered to a construction site in Switzerland by helicopter.

The company delivered jaw-dropping images of the all-electric ECR25 hovering 3,000m above the slopes of the Schilthorn mountain in the Swiss Alps, as it arrived at the summit, to aid the construction of foundations for a new summit station.
According to Volvo, the ECR25 is one of the few compact digging machines able to work at the site’s 2,970m altitude, due to its electric driveline – while the less dense and oxygen-rich air in the mountains causes issues for internal combustion engines, the electric machine operates equally well at high and low altitudes.
Volvo said the obvious advantage of the ECR25 being a zero-emissions machine were also a consideration in its use on the project.
Melchior Burlon, site manager at Ghelma AG Baubetriebe, which is carrying out the work, said, “There are two main problems up on the mountains: on the one hand, we don’t have much space here; and on the other hand, we often encounter problems with diesel engines operating at altitude owing to the thin air and the cold.”
Bulon added, “Volvo CE is the only supplier that offers something of this magnitude. Otherwise, there were only excavators up to two tons and we wanted the most powerful machine for the job – and something that we could still transport via helicopter if necessary.”
Iconic project for electric machine

When completed, the Schilthornbahn project will include the establishment of a cable car route between the village of Stechelberg and the Schilthorn summit.
With an estimated cost of €102 million, the new cableway and iconic summit station – made famous by its use in the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – will enable up to 800 tourists per hour to visit the mountain’s summit.
